You discount the results. There were tons of QB's who had great talent at WR. Warner on the Rams made that offense unstopable. The only reason the Pats won the SB was Ty Law was allowed to hold all game and disrupt the timing. If you look at the Giants Pats games last year the difference in the two games was the Refs allowed the Pats to hold the Giants DE in the regular season game and they didn't in the SB and they made Brady look bad. Warner had two of the greatest seasons in NFL history. His timing and delivery was a thing of outright beauty. Tons of QB's have great talent but an unstoppable O starts with the guy delivering the football. Getting to three SB, performing well in those SB against outstanding competition can't be over looked either. There are a lot of QB's with great Stats during the season who melt down against real competition in the playoffs. Warner isn't one of those guys.
Your dead on there Winston. Look at Joe Montana. He had Rice and taylor to throw to with Roger Craig in the back feild. All his super bowl wins came with amazing talent around him. I guess he should be eliminated from the running as well. Troy Aikman? Too much talent around him. Gotta throw him out. Warner has had 3 of the biggest passing days in superowl history. He's won a superbowl. Had several very good regular seasons. He carried a sub par talented team to the superbowl this season. They put up more then 30 points a game in the post season untill the big game where they still had a very respectable 23 against the #1 defense in all of football. The man has the goods to be in the hall of fame.
Fitz is the one who carried this team. The man had 550 yards receiving and 7 TDs in the playoffs. The reason I "discount" Warner with the Rams is because after he was out the team performed just as well for a little while. They were #1 in points in 99-01 and after Warners awful play for half a season sabotaged them in 02 Bulger came and in played great, and with a full season in 03 they were back to #2 in points. This was even with a washed up Faulk. Trent Green also played better than Warner in 2000 for the 5 games he was in there. He has a nice arm, and a quick release which helps make up for the fact that he's immobile and fumbles any time he's actually hit. He does deliver the ball in such a way that it allows his all pro talented backs and WRs to make plays after the catch, but without that all pro talent making those plays this guy wouldn't look half as good.
If you are going to discount all the QBs in the hall of fame that played with great talent there would be exactly zero QBs in the hall of fame. I'm not a big fan of Warners jesus loving ways but the man is a first ballot hall of famer and one of the best stories in NFL history.
The 49ers had great defensive teams that won SB that every one forgets. They were top 2 to 5 every year. They also had a unique O at the time.
Jim Kelly is in the HOF and what does he have...4 SB loses and zero wins where Warner has a win and two loses but he also is # 1, 2, and 3 in total yards passing per game in the SB. I say he goes into the HOF on roller skates.
This question today is insignificant. What we should really be debating is what immoral acts Kurt committed that he suddenly fell out of favor with the Almighty?
Kurt Warner is the definition of Hall of Fame QB: he lifted teams on his back and made them win games they had no reason to win otherwise.
No immoral acts. Big Doofus was also playing for Jesus, and Jesus liked their team better. Big Doofus didn't testify like he has in the past, so he'll be smitten soon enough. Wait, Jesus the Jew got rid of that whole smote thing, because it was new, happening, today...! Whatever. That's all there is to it. Get with the program. EDIT: I got into a 'smite' discussion with a friend of mine. I know if you smite someone you're a smiter and the receiver is smitten; but what is the proper form of 'smote'. For real. Anyone...? Because I would hate to say, "I have smote thee" - only to find out my curses are all for naught. Hehe.
He's a HOF'er in my opinion. Yes he's had talent around him but any QB who can take the Georgia Frontiere Rams and the Bill Bidwill Cards to the Big Dance deserves a place in Canton. I mean really, think about that!
that is a great deal of perspective when stated like that. These are the Rams and the Cardinals this guy did it with! That in itself should be enough to get him in. Now if the Woody Johnson Jets could just find a savior....
I really like him as a QB but I think the Jets need to get younger at the QB position. Plus they still (for now) have Favre on the roster. I would have liked him in the earlier part of this decade when we had Moss and Coles.
Well he definitely needs to be in the right system with the right players surrounding him but I think you can say that about the great majority of QBs, even the great ones.
Ok, I was thinking about this today, and I've changed my stance. He was before this season, a borderline HOF'er. After he led this team(yes he, Fitz didn't throw the ball to himself) to the Super Bowl, he just signed his ticket into the Hall. Honestly, any man who leads the Cards to the promised land is getting in, no matter.
Nothing on smote. How disappointing. I could just LOOK IT UP - but that will never happen. Well, then, I smite all ye fukkers.
