You are correct we do tend to be harsher. But thats because our team kinda deserves it. Im, for the record, ok with cousins at a reasonable number. Just not 30 mil plus

I seriously doubt that happens..... but if it's structured that way to have a lower number when some young guys are up or renewal, then it may not be too stupid. The JETS are still a couple of seasons away regardless. They have a cap floor to meet as well

Garoppolo is 26. Cousins was 26 in 2015 and by that point accomplished more than Garoppolo has. Talent is a matter of opinion, and while it's fair to think Garoppolo is more talented, it's a stretch to say he's much more talented.

I went through this already with another poster but the defense that year was horrendous. They were a top 10-15 offense, sometimes higher in most statistical categories and a bottom 5-10 defense in most statistical categories. Pinning that season on the QB who threw for 4,166 yards on 70% completion with 29 TDs and 11 INTs is irresponsible.

if its structured like the reports are hinting at, years 2-4 will be around 22.

Stop scapegoating it. Thats all youre doing. Your not even being rational. There defense didn't fumble 3 times in the playoffs game.

The dallas cowboys won 4 games that year. They were literally roating guys in to play qb and kirk lost to them. That wasnt on the defense. They got 3 turnovers. Stop scapegoating Cousins faults. If you would just acknowledge them, it would make youore believable, but the fact that you refuse to see whats clearly in front of you besides that 4000 yards weakens your argument.

No it 60 up front. Not 60 total, not 60 over 2. 60 mil for one season.

    Unless you're talking percent?

Yeah thats too much. I'm not faulting you for wanting better. We all do, but thats entirely too much for a system qb. And he is that, and that's what he's seen as sound the NFL by all accounts.

no it wont he would take home 60 mil in 2018, however his cap would be 44mil for 2018, then 22mil in 2019, 28mil in 2020, 27 mil in 2021 and finally 29mil in 2022. his number wouldn't have to pass 44 mil and that's only in 2018. 2019 he would be a bargain against the cap (we currently have 125mil in 2019 (143.5mil if we cut wilk this offseason) meaning even signing cousins to this deal leaves us with 30mil (or 45ish when we cut dead weight) for this offseason and still over 100 million for next offseason with not a lot of big money we need to give out to keep our own. we are in a very good cap position.

lol they got lucky. they drafted RG3 3rd overall and cousins in the 4th the same year. RG3 is out of the NFL and was a bust while cousins is a top QB. outside of cousins and maybe 2 or 3 other players their drafts have been poor for a decade. adams, williams, and maye alone is as many good players as the skins got in a decade

that's his value. I do understand the "SOJ" type fans that hate everything we do, but winning fixes that and landing cousins is a big step into becoming a winning team

I have no idea where you have this idea were gonna hand 100 mill next off-season but that's highly unlikely. We have to resign guys. And if you go read what the proposed contract is, it's 22 percent of the entire cap. The upcoming season. That would leave us with no money to sign anyone of substance.

No it wouldn't, because we wouldn't have money to field a winning team. He'd be in no better a situation here than last season.

You’re blaming the quarterback of an upper echelon offense who had a great year for a 9–7 record despite the fact his defense was factually and statistically horrible and somehow I’m the one scapegoating? Got it.

You keep on talking about the playoffs, that’s not what I’m talking about. You foolishly flat out blamed cousins for a team being mediocre despite the fact he had a great year and led the offense to a very very good year. It’s dumb when you pin a record on a quarterback regardless, but when you pin a record on a quarterback when his defense was scraping the bottom of the barrel of every statistical category, you look foolish.

I’m 32 years old. Got myself one of them college degrees too. Just because you want to pin everything on a quarterback and I don’t doesn’t mean I’m an idiot.

we will be praying we drafted a guy who plays as well as cousins if we go to the draft looking for a qb. and if he does, we will be paying him alot more 4-5 years from now.

I don’t know what around the NFL you’ve been listening to but I’ve been hearing NFL players gushing about him and media calling him the prize of FA. All pro players like Joe Thomas & Pat Pete recruiting him, all pro Von Miller basically stalking him.
