That may be so, but since he was traded to the 49ers it's a moot point. The JETS had about as much of a chance getting Garrapalo as Aaron Rodgers.
This 92 page discussion about Cousins versus draft a QB would literally be a no brainer if we were drafting 1 or 2. Cousins wouldn't even be a point of discussion. Picking at six is far more complicated: There is no real answer that would remotely guarantee a starter this year or next once the California boys are picked ahead of us. If Mayfield is also gone you are locked with a vet, McCown or a free agent. If there is one move worse than to over pay Cousins is to piss away valuable draft choices to move up in the draft. That is the worst possible move of all, because you can not develop a young, cost effective support group of players to compete without all your draft choices. I contend that the overarching issue is that Bowles does not have a feel nor the acumen to appreciate the power of a good offense and the need to take a chance on a younger QB so he can make his bones by playing on real games not sit on the bench. He wants to win with D and a vet QB that does manage the game so he will strongly influence (much like Rex did) to draft D. That is not really all that hard to do since at 6 the clear BPA will be a defensive pass rusher or CB so Mac will jump on it. So at the end of the day with Bowles at the helm we have a choice to see a kid like Mayfield or Jackson sit on the bench till who knows when and may be upgrade McCown with some one else for the foreseeable future. Wish it was different but fill in the blank with the vet QB of your choice.
I agree with the first half of your post but we can't say Bowles won't play a young QB. Petty sucks and he is better than Hack. McCown was much better than both, Geno was set to start ahead of Fitz until IK ended that. There's plenty to fault Bowles for, there are dozens of legitimate post on his faults, but saying he won't start a young player is not true.
Even if we were picking 1 or 2, it would be far from a no-brainer situation. There is no consensus on the QB's coming out in the draft, whether on this board or among 'professional draftnicks'. Kiper just came out with the following order: 1) Allen 2) Darnold 3) Mayfield 4) Rosen I happen to agree with Kiper on this one, but whether you do or don't, it's clear there is not a consensus. I also happen to think Cousins is better and much safer than any of these QBs, which is another opinion which I'm sure will not have consensus.
especially when he started 2 rookie safeties and lee started every game his rookie year as well. You can't blame bowles for starting a better player who happens to be older. it's his job to win games and put the best players on the field.
I really don't want allen. he has hack 2.0 written all over him IMO. rosen is too immature, mayfield is too limited. The only one of the top 4 i'd want is darnold even though he had a down year and will need to sit for a year or so. I think he'll have the best career of those 4
Not only that, he ate up cap space for Washington to surround him with talent. So..... Hows that gonna work when hes eating up 22+ percent of our cap, when he ate up less of theirs? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
When did the Redskins ever have $70 mil to spend to put talent around him? I don't really care about the percentage of the cap. How about comparing the percentage of our salary cap we have free to what they had free when they signed Cousins...
because the skins are a really bad organization who have handed out bad contracts and drafted poorly.
we tend to be harsher on our team and view other teams as better by default. realistically speaking yes the jets have done better on both fronts then the skins.
They had more talent lol. They still have more talent. They had jackson and garcon, and reed. And in a year in which every team in the nfc east went under 500 besides them, he only managed a 9 win season. And immediately out in the playoffs 35-18. What good did that 4000 yards do him? If its structured the way theyre talking online. Yes he will get 60 mil for one year which will count against the cap that year. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
oh, i think we are better then the snyder redskins, but right now we have had the same drafting problems they have had. and they managed to find a qb.
