Ideally, would GB cut him and eat his salary? Then the Jets would pick up Rodgers for the league minimum. And a huge chip on his shoulder.
Also, his mom would be rescued from Boko Haram by the NYFD and Rudy G.

Yep and then Tebow leads the Mets to a World Series and world peace is achieved.

I would def entertain taking a player at 6, then trading back into the first for Lamar. I don't think there would be much backlash at all. He's a very talented qb that will put butts in seats and win games.

Anyone else? How about Brady, Manning, Big Ben, Elway, Montana, Rodgers, Aikman, Griese, Bradshaw, Marino, etc., etc. So, are you saying we should roll the dice on a QB coming off a horrible injury? Some people thought Brees would never be the same again. Nice try, but not a good example. I’m sure there are a few out there.

i'm just saying you don't have to draft your qb, and brees is a prime example. when good qb becomes available and you can get him you do it. it doesn't happen often but that doesn't mean it can't work.

I think we’ve been over this ad nauseum. Statistics show that most draft picks don’t work out for teams. This is a year when the QB class is stronger than it has been in ages. We have a top pick. We will have 100 million in cash to spend. Why on earth wouldn’t you move up in a year when the QB class is strong and you can fill many holes in free agency? It makes no sense to me to try and grab a slightly above average QB instead of trying for a great one that can be the face of your franchise for 10-15 years.

I agree it can work, but Brees just isn’t a good example. He was coming off a serious injury. What I would do, in a year that we have 100 million in cash, is trade up to at least the 3 and grab the guy we want. Fill the holes in free agency. Our first round picks at QB have all done a nice job in putting us in a position to make the playoffs, and, in Namath’s case, winning one. We really need our own guy.

the qb class is not that strong, free agency won't be either after all the tags and extensions are done. and since most draft pics do not work out why would you gamble on draft pick that would be lucky to be as good?

That would wreck their draft either this year or next. But then again they suck at drafting so the less chances they have to mess it up the better.

Marota played in Chip Kelly's spread offense at Oregon, if you watched his college games it was a gimmick offense,
that many of Marcus best plays were runs, he has yet to prove to me that he is anything but a mid-level NFL QB, Mahomes
played one pro game, let's not put him in Canton....where are all of the spread NFL QBs?? They have yet to prove they
can succeed as a pocket QB in the NFL....Alex Smith & Cam Newton are probably the best two examples of QBs from a spread
who have had success in NFL.....Garoppolo has a chance to be something special.....Watson looked good for 7 games.....RG III,
Petty, Kapernick (pistol), Mallett, Tebow, Gabbert, and many more...many experts believe the system messes up players
mechanics, footwork, and ability to read defenses....

Why would Brees leave the Saints for the Jets?

First allow me to preface my reply to you by saying there is more than likely a 90% chance Brees stays with the Saints. I don't see him wanting to leave, however, there is a slim chance he could leave for greener pastures. If Mac went on a shopping spree for the offense bringing in weapons like LeVeon Bell and Jarvis Landry, the Jets would be very attractive offensively. Brees winning the AFC EAST division and leading the Jets to the playoffs would enhance his NFL legacy. Would it not? Just a hypothetical. Not saying it will or should happen.

In this post alone you noted a number of college spread QBs who can be said to have successfully made the transition. I don't think the problem is where they come from, it's where they go to - they need to have a CS that can help them make that transition. But if a QB is a great athlete and has the tools, there's no reason - other than poor coaching and development, including play calls and a good supporting cast - that he can't succeed in the NFL. There's a lot of other variables that dictate QB success, regardless what system they played in. And the fact that more and more colleges employ some variation of the spread, and many NFL teams are doing so as well, means that teams need to adjust towards that fact, and not simply pass on superior talent just because the guy comes from a spread system. With the massive importance of having a good, if not great, QB to win a SB, teams should start with that guy and build up the system and talent around him. Trying to force fit a QB into an existing system and talent base CAN work, but more often doesn't. If the Jets are rebuilding, they need to do it the right way and quit half-assing it.

Whether you like Cousins or not, the last thing we all want is for him to stay in Washington. We all should be praying they keep being the Skins and screw that up.
