And this one says that too. http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york-j...ins-likes-about-jets-and-what-may-concern-him At least the Jets won't get another chance to throw their money away, this time on him.
Yeah, but has Cousins really had the likes of Anthony Becht and Chez Schillens at TE and WR, respectively? This feels like a Strawman.
Meh, I remember chad spiking the ball during a game ending drive and then starting to walk off the field like it was a timeout.
Yeah, I mean, it's not the reason I don't want Cousins. Just one of those things that happens sometimes.
AT LEAST KIRK IS CONSIDERING THE JETS. I READ IN THE PAPERS THAT MIKE SHANNAHAN THINKS IT WOULD BE A GREAT FIT....KIRK & BATES Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins -- a potential free agent target for the quarterback-needy Jets -- shed some light Tuesday on how this offseason could unfold for him. Cousins also praised Jeremy Bates, whom the Jets are promoting from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator. Speaking on WFAN's Afternoon Drive show with Chris Carlin, Bart Scott, and Maggie Gray, Cousins said he initially met Bates in the pre-draft process, six years ago, before Washington took him in the fourth round. "I actually met Jeremy when he was Jay Cutler's quarterback coach in Chicago," Cousins said. "That was in the draft, coming out in 2012. And I really liked him then. I just think he's a good football mind. Everybody I've talked to who knows him loves him. I think it was a smart hire by the Jets, and wish him well in what he does."
The second Kirk encounters Todd Bowles and chipmunk Mac he will run away screaming for the Denver mountains, only way someone is coming to us is if he is drafted into it.
that's not how it works. if that was the case you'd never see any good player leave via free agency. that's how the MLB is. NFL is completely different. you also can't force someone to sign a deal
Slim, if you read the article which I'm sure you did, Mike is pretty clear in his description of what any good QB needs. Good players and a good defense. If jets did sign Cousins, he's not going to carry the team to the SB with a bad oline and lead feet Matt Forte as their starting RB.
AS IT STAND RIGHT NOW THE ONLY OTHER QB NEEDY TEAM WITH ENOUGH CAP SPACE TO MAKE A RUN AT COUSINS IS THE BROWNS. EVERY OTHER QB NEEDY TEAM HAS LESS THAN 32m If the Browns get kirk than it will make our chances of getting a top 3 qb in the Draft better Same goes for broncos with 29m The bills are the only team that could make it tough sledding for the jets because they have around 31m And if they get cousins it won't help our chances in the draft...BUT I THINK IT WOULD BE FAIR TO SAY BRONCOS & BILLS AREN'T GOING TO SPEND THEIR WHOLE CAP ON ONE PLAYER
Broncos are going to free themselves of Talib which clears cap space they will also be cutting other players as well , to be fair Vance Joseph is a terrible coach but cousins will be enamored by Elway and Kirk wants to win, jets may offer more money, but broncos offer a better everything else.
do they though? i mean they only won 5 games and are picking in front of us in the draft. what makes them better then us? i mean their CBs are awesome, they have miller. 2 great WRs but must have other big holes since they didn't perform well
I'm not sure how accurate this is, but I am going to look into how Cousins played against teams with 9+ wins, as well as teams with 8+ wins. Not just his record, but how he performed. I don't want my favorite team breaking the bank for a guy who the majority of the time plays well against the bottom feeders, but comes up limp against the really good teams.
They shit down our throats with a god awful QB and basically didn't allow us to cross midfield. Jets have good safeties and a slightly underrated but still barely average group of wrs. McCown had a career year and covered up the holes of what should have been a 1-2 win team. Bryce petty starts the whole year and it's very possible we go 0-16. Broncos and the jets are on different levels of talent, not saying they are good but they are better then us by a mile high
Buffalo has $40 million, since they save $10 million if they cut Tyrod Taylor. Cincinnati has $53 million, since they save $14 million if they cut Andy Dalton. I've already mentioned several times in this thread that Jacksonville has $44 million, since they save $19 million if they cut Blake Bortles (although Bortles' recent surgery complicates things for them greatly). Minnesota has $56 million and no quarterbacks under contract. And for those who think they still love him and would have a shot at re-signing him, Cousins' current team, Washington, has $52 million. Those five teams were collectively 46-34 this year, so they could easily be more appealing to him than are the Jets. Some will stick with what they have (like Keenum and Minnesota), but some of them won't.
