3 year deal sounds perfect. Mac is going to want an out after 3 anyway. If he is playing well we can tag him if we have to. Get it done mac
it's all speculation at this point. I wouldn't pass on a player just because the length of the deal. Also signing cousins doesn't mean we cant draft a future QB either. as far as WRs go, you do have a point but there are players we could land (mia is 20mil over the cap and could pull back the tag on landry) watkins and robinson are hitting the market, pryor is on the market, tavon austin, plus the draft we are loaded with money. we could land robinson as our #1 and austin for depth and special teams. and still have kearse. If you look at it that way the top for being robinson, kearse, hansen, austin. plus we have stuart, anderson and enunwa. even without those 3 producing we would still have a solid 4 and if enunwa comes back like he was and if robby plays the whole year it's just deadly. adding robinson and enunwa with anderson. kearse against dime backs when he was beating 1s and 2s last year.
Yeah, if that happens fans would be fine. If they go in 2018 with Bridgewater, McCown and Hackenberg, I would say the current regime is a lost cause.
lol it would be disappointing to say the least i would happy personally with 1) any 1st round QB (preferably jackson or darnold but i won't bitch about rosen, mayfield, or allen even though i don't like them) 2) cousins (can keep hack and petty then) 3) cousins and a 1st round QB 4) cousins and a late round QB (maybe furgeson in the 5th) 5) any other vet free agent (teddy b, keenum, mccown, etc) and a 1st round QB
I agree it will end up something close to what you suggested. I think it will be a toss up between Bridgewater/McCowan...Hack just for MMs ego...and Mayfield/Allen....preferring Mayfield myself. Petty will be the odd man out. Macagnan won't be as embarrassed letting that particular pick of his fall off because he was a mid rounder.
The Jets are really making this more complicated than it needs to be..resign McCown and draft a QB in the 1st round..we're still in rebuild mode and won't be contenders for a year or two.
Just like the Jags last year before they went and spent a ton in FA and were one play away from the Super Bowl.
Jags were about 3 years ahead of the Jets rebuilding that team...they are better at most positions if they had a good QB they would be Super Bowl contenders..we have no where near that amount of talent.
Since 2011 the Jets have had no seasons where they won less than 5 games. Since 2011 the Jaguars have had no seasons where they won more than 5 games until this year. Yes, 6 straight losing seasons in a row, they were far beyond where we are rebuilding. I'm sure their 10-6 season and near miss of the Super Bowl after a run of embarrassment after embarrassment had nothing to do with massive amounts of money they spent this past offseason.
I think it’s a lock that mccown or cousins will be qb1 when training camp starts. How he fills in 2-3 is where the suspense lies.
If your take is the Jets can make the Super Bowl this year or the AFC championship game signing Kirk Cousins and spending a bunch of money in free agency i'm gonna completely disagree with that.
Caller into Moving The Chains reporting that Colin Cowherd said that Broncos and Vikings out of Cousins sweepstakes Elway feels price too high MIN going with Keenum
Why? The Jags literally just did it. Let's take a closer look: AJ Bouye led the team in INTS... signed as a free agent. Calais Campbell led the team in sacks... signed as a free agent. 3 of their top 5 tacklers... signed as free agents. 5 of their 7 defensive players who started all 16 games... signed as free agents. You see where I'm going with this. You absolutely can rebuild by spending a shit ton of money as long as you're spending it on impact players that can play for the duration of their contract. Cousins can do that.
Well, make up your mind folks. When there are too many Cousins threads people complain when the threads gets merged I get PM's asking why this was done. Please help me here.
Didn't Cowherd also say that the Broncos were near a deal with Cousins back at the end of January?? I can't take all this speculation! The truth is nobody knows anything! I can't find anything confirming that Cowherd said Vikings and Denver are out. It would be huge if it's true, and would practically guarantee the Jets get him. I just don't get how anybody has any deals or discussions on anything yet. It's illegal to tamper until the 12th, so how could anybody possibly know what teams are doing yet?
