All the cousins haters....what do you think about that! Lol....just kidding. Ha but yea thats terrible.
The good news for all the "QB a 6" crew is that I don't think there is a QB on the market that should prohibit the jets from still taking a QB at 6.
Very disappointing news, hopefully they are still trying to sign Keenum but I think it’s more likely they already know they can sign Cousins.
It's not a forgone conclusion that he is going to sign with the Vikings but they do appear to have interest. If he bases it off of W/L and recent accomplishments yea Minnesota wins. If he factors in cap space to bring in more talent and the biggest paycheck the jets win out. Oh and we have cupcakes lol.
Given how Fitz and then McCown did in their first season as Jets, how about we sign Kirk to a one year prove it deal Good post. But you also actually made the case proving that "strength of schedule" is a bad way to determine how good a team is. In those games you mentioned that were the result of anomalies it shows that consistently good teams might wind up with a less than good record or outcome because of injuries or other circumstance that do not alter the fact that they are good teams, or conversely the same thing can be said about bad teams.
Bradford!? Keenum!? I'll get started on next season right now lol we would be fucked ... just give me McCown again
Never. Keenum sucks. His performance in the NFC Championship was terrible. He fell apart vs. the Saints too. Got lucky at the end. The Vikings realize this, that is why they are not tagging him. It is a good approach. Still might end up re-signing him and Bridgewater for less money than a tag would cost. More likely signing Cousins though. Good for them and good for him, if so.
Maybe I should just kill myself now. Or maybe wait until after the draft when we use our first pick on a CB. UGHH!!!
minni is a good fit for cousins but signing him would create problems locking up their talent in 2019 ... barr, diggs, hendricks, and hunter are all huge contributors to that team
I'm not quite sure why some are acting like it's an end of the world scenario (I know, it's what this website does). I think I want Cousins here just as bad as anyone, but I'm not ready to hit the panic button. If they franchised Keenum, they'd have to pay him $23 mill. He's just not worth that. I'd say the probability is high that they try to negotiate a new deal with a lower number.
I am not reading to much into this....what exactly is "mutual interest". Maybe Minnesota has a ready to win team and that's that cousins is "interested" in? I don't see anything stating they have been in talks or anything relating to that or that he himself has expressed interest.
Not buying much into rumors 2 weeks prior to FA beginning. Show Cousins that check for 60mil year 1. Let’s see if he can say no
3 Main Options for Cousins: 1. Minnesota Vikings Positives: -Went to the NFC Championship Game last year. -Great Defense -Great Coach -Good offensive weapons (Diggs, Theilen, Cook, Murray) -Play in a Dome -Win Instantly Negatives: -Play in the NFC North vs. Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford -Play in the NFC with the Eagles, Falcons, Saints, Packers, Cowboys, Panthers, etc. -INSTANT Super Bowl or BUST pressure -Live in Minnesota. Too cold! 2. Denver Broncos Positives: - Good franchise led by John Elway -Solid defense to help put less stress on offense. -Potentially a playoff team with Cousins. -Pretty good Offensive weapons with Thomas and Sanders. Negatives: -Uncertain Coach quality -Play in AFC West vs Gruden and the Raiders, Reid and the Chiefs, tough Chargers team. -Follow in the footsteps of Peyton Manning, John Elway -Play a mile high, in cold and snowy conditions -Team is getting older instead of younger. 3. New York Jets Positives: -Play in the AFC East. Brady and the Pats run will end any day now. Could run the division shortly. -Young team with potential and money to add players -Become the face of the franchise -Less pressure to win instantly than the other 2 options. Fans would be happy with a 2018 playoff birth. -Potentially be offered the most money. -Play in the media capital of the world: NYC Negatives: -Loser franchise that has not won in 50 years. (Could be a positive if you turn it around) -Coach entering his 4th year and has not even made the playoffs. -Uncertainty of how good the team will be built around you. Offense and Defense. -Play in the Meadowlands. Could be bad weather in November/December. So tough choice for Cousins to make I would say.
Cousins will be the death of that team after year one. That team is built on depth. They can literally plug player after player in. What happens when they need to pay Diggs? theiland? Barr? Griffin? Harrison Smith? Xavier Rhodes? I’m sure I’m missing a few They can’t. Yes, us giving cousins a monster deal doesn’t really help our chances in year one but signing him allows us to build for years 2-5 of actually competing for a Lombardi. More so years 3-5 but hell it could be as early and year 2 if we hit on draft picks this year and our younger players take that next step. Signing cousins allows us flexibility over the next 3 years to draft whatever we want and not be desperate for a qb
