I agree 100%. He's got to be SO pissed off. How cool would it be seeing him catch balls from the guy we drafted via his initial trade? Key's got 2-3 years left in him as a viable WR. It would be a nice story to have him finish up where he started out. Bring back #19!

Actually, I heard rumors he wanted out of Carolina after OC Dan Henning left.

Damn, I feel bad for this guy. He seemed so happy on draft day to be with his team, and to be able to work with Jarrett and such, and then he gets released. That just plain out sucks.

Anyway, I definitely think we should get him. Having an endzone threat like this is exactly what we need. Depending on the money, if it is reasonable, I see go and bring him back to the city he started in.

Carolina paid him a 3 million roster bonus less then a month ago. I wonder if he asked out after they drafted Jarrett. Why would they pay the bonus and then cut him. We may only be hearing what they agreed together to say.

would love to have him back, especially cheap. He has matured, and is tough as nails. He blocks well, redzone threat, goes over the middle, and gets first downs. 3rd and 5 he catches the ball at 3yds and drags defenders the last 2.

Yea man, you can see his attitude has changed, just from watching the draft...

Ill take him in a heart beat. He'd make an excellent addition to our roster

No way did he ask out, Jarrett and Key are both USC WR's, keyshawn openly expressed during the draft that he cant wait to teach Jarrett the NFL game

I guess then Carolina just likes throwing good money away. Not sure how much over that 3 million he will count against the cap either.

I can't find anything about a bonus... he just recently confirmed he wasn't retiring.

    EDIT: Nevermind, found it

    Thats just stupid.

Coles, unfortunately, isn't a #1 receiver. Cotchery has passed him in my opinion, and I think Coles would thrive in the slot.

"The move came a month after the Panthers paid Johnson a $3 million roster bonus, and three days after they selected another former Southern California receiver in the second round of the draft. "

Seeing as how we need a big, tall, over the middle type reciever (I was thinking more along the lines of a TE, but this works just as well.) I say go for it.

That wasn't giddy, it was nerves. The elephant in the room among the commentators when Jarrett got picked was that it was pretty likely that Keyshawn was going to get released as a result.

He even said something to the effect of "maybe now I need to find something else to do." Those weren't the exact words, but that was the drift and nobody sitting with him on the panel picked it up.

I think everybody there was being as respectful as they could be.

I'd take him back for depth and to give us a 3rd down option. Pass on him as a #2 though. If injury forced it it would not be a disaster but there's no way Keyshawn is still a good #2 receiver.
