I'd rather take Cooper! Waaaay more polished and a much better rout runner. Don't get me wrong I really like White but I like Cooper better!
I prefer Cooper, but this is a deeeeeeeeeep WR class. You are 100% getting a potential STUD in rounds 2-3, if not later. Can't say that about QB, DE/OLB, or Oline.
i know it's highlights only, but this speaks for itself. beast mode YAC and contested catches all over the place. and check out the one-handed grab at the 5:04 mark
It's starting to feel like the consensus #1 WR is no longer a consensus. White's skills are very very impressive, but what really sells me on him is his hunger. This is a guy who's been through a ton and approaches the game with fierce competitiveness. He's no gonna take anything for granted. Guys like him are dangerous on a football field.
I noticed that also, and I like it. The guy plays with an edge, almost angry. Reminds me of Dez Bryant and Julio Jones in that way.
Also a Jersey native out of Plainfield, rough neighborhood, so you gotta love that. Bring the boy home.
Yess! i love my Mountaineers ! BRING IN WHITE! He's an ABSOLUTE BEAST! Kevin White is a more dangerous red zone threat than cooper. (I'd be just as excited if we landed cooper so no knock on him but i don't think he gets passed oakland). If Mariota isn't there... K.White has to be our guy. And we will love him for many years to come. I guess this all depends how free agency goes TBH
I stopped watching after 2 minutes. He's a beast. The explosiveness after he catches a wr screen is ridiculous. He's instantly 6-7 yards off the LOS within a matter if seconds. He goes up for the ball. Let's get him
Look, Kevin White is probably a lot better than Stephen Hill, but there are some scary similarities. Both are speed merchants who burst onto the scene late. It was Amari Cooper and everybody else until just recently when White appears on the scene to challenge him. These late risers are usually busts, historically. Remember when the Raiders took speedster Darius Heyward-Bey ahead of the higher rated Michael Crabtree because he wowed them at the combine? ..... Just saying...
White wasn't considered a top 10 pick until the combine. But you're right he did have much better college stats than Hill. (of course lots of WR's have put up pinball numbers in college only to be ignored by pro scouts, or they ended up as busts. It's a huge difference between college and the NFL. That's why it doesn't mean much if fans watched a player a ton in college and came away impressed. That's where the Pro scouts make their money. "Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama -- He didn't do anything to hurt his status as the top receiver in the draft, clocking a time of 4.42 seconds in the 40. The Oakland Raiders (No. 4) are the popular landing spot for Cooper. Kevin White, WR, West Virginia -- White made himself a lot of money, blazing the 40 in 4.35 seconds -- at 6-foot-3, no less. He probably moved into the top 10 and could be a consideration for the Jets, especially if Cooper is off the board. " http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york-jets/
What shit comparisons Hill had all the tools to be a ood wr besides the most important one that's needed and that's hands ......what whites tape he is the best wr in the draft at catching the ball at its highest point As for the Hayward bey comparison hr wasn't even suppose to be drafted that high raiders reached for that pcik
The only risk I see with White is, having come from a rough background, if maybe he checks out and doesn't put in the work once he gets paid. But you could ask this question of 90% of guys coming in to the league. If this becomes a concern though, Cooper does seem like the safer pick. In my mind there is no question of talent or skill to play WR as there was with Hill. Hill was a guy with effortless long speed but was awkward / bad at football. Hill had like 25 receptions in college the year he was drafted. He often looked like DHB trying to catch the football. Kevin White has natural hands and oozes natural playmaking ability and feel for the game, including how to work over DBs, track the ball in the air, high point it, win contested catch situations, leave guys in the dust with his YAC ability, etc. Stephen Hill never showed any of that. He was a guy who could run a 9 route and occasionally come down with it, whose stock suddenly took off when he blazed a 4.3 at the combine.
White was unstoppable all year. I had him on my radar to jump ahead of Cooper at the combine. He has a way higher ceiling. No comparison to Stephen "bust" Hill whatsoever. White had a great year in college and wasn't just a tall WR with a fast 40. http://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/if-cooper-winston-mariota.83187/page-3
This is what Mayock said about Kevin White before the combine: "Kevin White is my No. 1 wide receiver," Mayock said. "He has strong hands and is a physical runner after the catch. The only question is his long speed, and there is a huge difference between him running 4.58 and 4.48. If he runs 4.5 or better, I think he's a lock top-10 pick." His 4.35 40 absolutely blew people away.
Actually, Kevin White was a top-1o guy all year if you actually watched college football. His combine just bumped him up from top-1o pick (and long-shot but possible #1 WR taken) to likely top-6 (pretty good shot at #1 WR taken). Just because the one draft website you undoubtedly use to judge players listed him as a late first rounder for the majority of the year does not make it true.
Dude you are completely clueless... It makes me wonder if you even watch football. First you say we should sign Brady Quinn to turn this franchise around and now you compare Kevin White to Stephen Hill??? Kevin White had more catches in 3 games than Stephen Hill had his whole college career, exaggeration? No not at all look it up... Late riser??? This guy has been considered a first rounder all year and a top 5-15 pick for months now. There are absolutely no comparisons with him and Hill or Heyward Bey whatsoever. Please do research before typing something so stupid.
I see little chance that oakland doesn't take a WR, so its 50/50 if White falls to us. feels like such a raider pick unfortunately, go against the grain and get the fiery WR who's stock has gone arising. but that would leave Cooper to consider,so we're winners either way I say. Love the way he competes for the ball, he might start to trump MM as my favorite at #6….
