Clemens at his best with time to get in there and get comfortable is probably good enough to get us to around 500 at best. You can't overestimate the importance of being accurate--it's the difference between getting 7 and getting 3 in the red zone, the difference in keeping a drive going on 3rd down and the difference in throwing more INTs. It's not all about arm strength, Clemens is living proof of that. Good guy, seems to get it, but that doesn't put the ball on target often enough when it has to be there.

I can't believe how bad the accuracy was yesterday. I don't remember him being that off.

I do, that's why we kicked so many FGs in 2007. It didn't help that we ran for six TDs all year as a team but Clemens was certainly part of the problem then too.

He made some nice throws late in the game - as noted above. I also agree that he looked nervous and he never settled in the pocket and just made throws. Actually, when Shotty began to roll him out and made him throw on the run he looked a lot better.

He ended up 12/23 (.500) with something like 111 yards passing, but the stats had to be much worse before the start of the 4th quarter.

The poor guy knew this was his last chance and he just couldn't get it together. The one shot of him sitting on the bench toward the last part of the game was a little like, "I wonder if this is the last NFL game I'll ever get to play in?" You could kinda feel that. The answer is probably yes.

The play calling really didn't let Clemens do much yesterday, but he still holds the ball too long and was inaccurate when he did throw the ball. Maybe he's just 'rusty' from not playing all year, but clearly, the better chance to win games is with Sanchez.

I guarantee you...that was done by design.
