I will sleep better tonight compared to last night. I am no Football expert but I now have hope for 2025.
I should clarify in that I think it’s easier for a QB to be coached to speed up when they are such a dynamic running threat as Fields is. Lamar definitely got a lot better over time (although he’s a lot shiftier rather than straight line speed like Fields). The threat of the run from the QB position in the right offense creates space and will allow them to catch up to the speed of the game. It felt like the Bears tried to make him a drop back passer without that designed in element and he just scrambled for a lot of those yards.
Bridge QB needs to be to a real QB. No point in building a bridge to another bridge. If the leadership thinks Fields is a bridge, then trade up to draft Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward.
Nah… Next years draft class for QBs is stacked. Sanders and Ward are being pushed up because of the lack of top end talent at QB. McCord in the 3rd is a lottery ticket pick.
I don't see how you can call it an "upgrade" at the position, but I also don't see how you couldve expected better...
See...you get it! The QB position is POO this year. FA or Draft. Of ALL the QB's, not named Sam Darnold, that were FA's, this right here is the shiniest "turd" of the bunch. He's still young, has tremendous wheels and wasn't NEARLY as bad as some are making him out to be. I'd love to see what this board would do if the Jets brought in someone like Garoppolo, Brissette or ?? ALL those guys are going to want the same amount of coin. Between $15 and 20 mil per. THAT is what bottom third starters are getting paid. The Jets win, GREAT! They lose, we cut bait or leave him on as a backup and draft the future. I'm STILL not sure what they have in Travis Jordan. Does anyone? He's the least talked about Jet. Some say he was pretty damn good in Florida and would have been somewhere in the 2nd/3rd round had he been healthy. So, we have our project QB. Fields and Taylor can battle it out in camp.
I guess if you don't believe in these two guys, then that's fine. But: I have zero faith in the "two years from now the QB class is stacked". Here's Max Kellerman saying the 2021 QB class could be the greatest of all time. It was, just one of the greatest busts. Do we really want to keep throwing away years? Every year we throw away is another year I'll never get back. I'd love to see a SB in my lifetime (I was born after 1970)
I don't think so. Again, watch the tape I posted of all but one of his games. He was a consistently good player last year. Rodgers was very inconsistent. And guess what, it's not just me: both QBR and passer ratings have Fields higher, and passer ratings don't include mobility where Fields blows Rodgers out of the water. And that was 2024. I expect Fields to better in 2025 while Rodgers worse. There is a reason why Pitts wanted him back and he was their preferred option over Russ and yes - Rodgers, according to Shefty, who is very accurate. BOTH Jets and Steelers preferred Fields, it is a fact. Fields was a better player than Rodgers in 2024 and I expect the gap to widen in 2025. So, yeah, we do have an upgrade at QB, and potentially quite a big one.
Our OL was pretty shit last year (ranked 25th). So was our DL. I wouldn't mind just drafting those two positions for all our picks. Also, wouldn't mind that TE from Penis State.
we just turned one of the best qb's ever into a bum.... ....now we want to turn a bum into..... what exactly? this will not end well.
I wasn't a Fields guy when he was drafted, but I like the move now. These QB's are way too young and inexperienced fresh out of school where they probably came out early anyway. There is a decent chance we're getting him at the right time. I assume Garrett Wilson is happy about it too, which helps. I am anxious to see what he could bring. Good signing. I don't know who else out there as a QB I'd feel this way about now that Rodgers is gone.
