I do like the idea of getting something for these guys while we can, instead of just cutting them. Even if we wind up with a basket of 6th and 7th Round picks, you can always bundle and trade up.

Yeah, maybe we can regain a 4th round pick since we traded ours to SF.

No way, I'd be surprised if it was anything better than a 6. They knew as well as we did that he wasn't in our plans. We just took whatever we could get....

Good riddance. At least this gives Joel Dressen a chance to shine.

I like the fact that Dressen gets a chance to step up now. and I assume the Ryan guy must be brought in to block, since we havent seen our TE do that since Becht.

What I dont like though, is I bet Gruden schemes ways to make Jolley look effective as he did in Oak and make us look dumb.

I agree. But there's nothing wrong with tossing those 6's and 7's in a cigar box and bringing them out next year to sweeten up some trades.

Totally agree, as as others have mentioned I'm really high on Dreesen (even after that drop in the Giant game) and look forward to seeing what he can do along with Baker...

A blocking TE! Oh Lord... imagine the possibilities. How about Brad Smith in the backfield with a RB? Who is gonna run this ball? Is Smith running or going out for a pass? Or will he be the QB again?

Baamf, as I mentioned, Dreessen is a big boy and I watched him carefully at the TC I went to. Now this new TE looks even heavier, but believe me, Dreessen looks REAL big in person and plays that way. He is a load after the catch.

exactly, I might sound stupid, but I never liked the fact we let Becht walk. I mean sure it was at the time that the TE explosion came. now coaches are looking for the TE to stretch the field and dominate in Red Zone receptions. but, I feel a huge part of the dropoff in QB protection was due to Bechts absence.

not to mention the run game. i dont see how you get rid of your RT (McKenzie) and one of the best blocking TE's in the league and not expect a huge dropoff. and I'm not saying we shouldve kept both, but if we kept at least one of them. the line wouldnt have looked as bad.

I don't think this Ryan dude has ever even caught a pass in an NFL game, is that right?

Just curious, if we picked up two guys and only lost one doesn't that leave us over the 75 player limit? The roster on the Jets site shows 78 players; minus CMart, Pouha and Tui that is our 75. Now we drop Jolley and add two players, were at 76. What am I missing?????

Jolley played well in Gruden's system in Oakland. This move makes me wonder if Gruden is unhappy with Becht or Smith. Either that or he plans on employing a lot of 2 TE sets.

I hope we can get a decent draft pick out of this trade.

Don't get me wrong. I'm glad he's gone. but I'm not happy about the dinky pick ups or the dinky late round picks we'll be getting.
