If the CS doesn't think Zach is ready to play, then absolutely make Strevelor the back up. But in that case I'd still suit Zach up as QB3 in case. I want no of Flacco, ever.
It's always kinda funny to me, reading all the stuff about Zach & how he sucks, etc. If y'all would watch the video earlier in this thread, with all his passes in the 1st Bills game, he played a good game. Made mainly good reads, mostly good throws, stood in there when he knew he was gonna get hit, made most of his easy passes, even took a sack at the end of the game, rather than forcing something. In that game he showed progress. Then it all fell apart against the Pats again. My point, while I never wanted them to draft Zach, & I've been hard on him from the beginning, he's a raw kid who's never faced tough competition or adversity before. He raised his game, played well against the Bills, after a bad game against the Pats. If he's elevated to QB2, that suggests he's made some progress since his demotion. A good thing for Jets fans.
Too bad there are some good things to see in one of the games he has played but he's played like twenty.
Zack Saleh is just keeping him in the doghouse like he did with Mims/Moore, he should worry about putting the best team on the field on any given Sunday instead of personal rifts. Zack needs to atleast dress and watch the game from the bench not be standing on the sideline dumbfounded he is no use than. Flacco is toast 0 excuse why he is dressing or on this team, he is 10 years washed up. Joe D is a great Gm but he totally f-ed up the qb situation he should of gotten a competent veteran in the offseason and parted ways with Flacco.
It's an interesting question. Flacco is done and I hope to never see him under center for the Jets again. But RIGHT NOW there is a case to be made that Zach is not ready to be thrown back in there. I think he needs longer to get this reset sorted out. If he has been showing progress in practice (and only the coaches know that) then maybe. I would be worried that if they throw Zach back in, he would quickly revert to his poor form and then it would start to look like he was done here. So Zach is far and away the best option out of those two... but I still think the situation is more complicated than that.
Joe Flacco, the human tackling dummy has proven his worth. Hopefully he enjoys that last NFL paycheck, and doesnt see the field unless they need a 7 step drop hail mary chuck....
The thing that worries me about Wilson is the same thing we saw with Mark Sanchez… ball placement. He played fine vs Buffalo throwing screens and running on 3rd downs. His ball placement on intermediate passing was as always erratic.
