I'd rather not have scott calling the defense, he's too emotional.

Leonard had been great as a PR recently, but I think Wilson can step in and do a good job. Huge loss though.

Agreed, if Scott could call the D he would have last year over Harris.

Bart was in the system for years and Harris was still chosen.

Aw no, this is such shitty news. Rex was on the Fan this morning, speaking very highly of Jim. What are the odds?

Harris or the other white safety.

Me too, but on 1050 they said Eric Smith will be calling the plays. Which scares me...

Wait people are more worried about the Punt Returning factor than the safetey problem...? forget Punt Returning, we need to worry about our secondary....

He is good, but it is not his strength. Plus he lacks speed. He is not a threat to go all the way with it ever. His #1 strength is securing the ball each time. Just trying to say his signal calling and play at safety is way more important than his punt returning.

Potentially stupid question here, but don't the plays just come from Pettine/Rex anyway?

Like safety coverage on TE has been strong for us this year.

Buddy of mine just said our chances against NE have gone up now.Leonard would have been a liability against the safeties of NE because of his size.Anyone agree with this?

Yeah once I heard that Smith will be calling plays I didn't mind.

He's one of the most brilliant minds in the NFL. He can analyze, he just doesn't have experience doing it for the Jets.

Westhoff said Cotchery will be the punt returner, and Holmes + Cromartie will get involved w/2-deep returns. #nyj"

This is the NFL not Boise State and he hasn't shown much as a return man and has had issues catching the ball in limited opportunities. We cannot lose a huge game down the stretch b/c we muff a punt.
