this isnt good, i cant tell which ones of you are serious and which are jokin around. oh well, if you cant beat 'em, join 'em!! GO JETS!!!:jets: :martin:
How can you say we will win that game, yet lose some of the others you said? The Jets have a tough time winning in Buffalo even when they are good.
Jets are going to have many new starters and several old players playing new positions. The player's comfort in their positions and the team chemistry will not be there for atleast the first six or seven games, and by that time it may be too late to put together a good season.
Buffalo is an organization in disarray. We really need to win that game, or I have no hope of any wins next year. People keep saying we have an easy schedule and that we are in a weaker division. I think both of those thoughts are wrong. As far as easy schedule, there is no such thing anymore. People are still stuck in the '90s. Each divisional team plays 2 games against each division rival, we all know that. For the past few years, the format of the other games has been changed. You used to get your schedule based on the previous year's results, but no more. Now you play one game each against each team of two other divisions. This year, the AFCE drew the NFC North and the AFC South. After those games, the league tries to set up "rival" games, hence why we play the Raiders every year now. Miami is much stronger this coming year than they were going into 2005. Regardless of Culpepper's success, they were an improving team by the end of last year, so there is no reason to believe Saban is going to move backwards this offseason. New England is still led by Belli and Brady, so there is no reason to count them out. Again, Buffalo is just a mess, and actually seems to have degraded since last year, which wasn't good in the first place. The AFCS is tough. Tenn is probably going to have their new QB. Fisher always has that team ready to play. The game is there Opening Weekend, so I don't see much hope of taking that one, but it's a possible toss-up. Indy comes here, which would be an advantage, if it were already cold. The game is unfortunately on Oct 1. Yes, they lost Edge, but chances are, they will replace him with something decent in this draft, and Manning is still the best regular season QB in the NFL right now. Jacksonville is much better than us already. Going there is going to be tough. Houston is the biggest toss-up of that division. I predict them to be much improved this coming year, as long as they actually address the OLine situation this weekend. Now the NFCN. Chicago was insane last year. That D is still going to be tough, and if our O doesn't vastly improve this weekend, I just can't see them not walking out of the Meadowlands very happy in October. Minny is a toss-up now. I'm not sure what to make of that team. They improved over the course of last season, but now they will have a new CS, and their franchise QB is watching chicks on the beach instead of playing with them on a boat. I think Detroit has greatly improved. Two very good QBs could help that team a lot. I still like Harrington, but they definitely upgraded. This is another toss-up at this point. Green Bay is yet another toss-up at this point. The key is Favre. He is hurting the organization right now. Unless, he and GB know what his intentions are, and this is just a big smokescreen, they could be in a lot of trouble next year. The other games aren't easy either. Obviously, Raider games are always a toss-up. It's more of the rivalry that makes that game than either team's talent pool. Cleveland is an up-and-coming team, and playing there is late Oct can hurt us. With all of the toss-up games, we could forseeably make it to 9 wins. Do I believe it will happen? No. I'm not trying to Darkside, but this is reality. Of course I would like to see us be a great team this year, but we have so many questions that I just don't see it. The QB position is a total mess. We have no clue who is even going to be competing for the spot in TC. We don't know who will be our RB or how our WR core will shape up. Our big advantage is our D. If it can be improved with people like Mario, Lawson or Hawk, we can definitely be kept in games and give our O time to click. This is just my take on our situation. I actually hope to be wrong, but I am not going to get my hopes up like I have every other year. At some point, you have to be realistic, and this year, with all of the questions postionally, and a new CS trying to install systems on both sides of the ball, I don't see the likelihood of getting more than half a dozen wins, and I think 4 is still the safe bet. You could stand to make a truckload of cash right now in Vegas if you bet on the Jets to win enough to make the playoffs though
I think we will struggle this season....we have a new head coach and GM, and though they are bedding in quickly, there will still be teething problems especially because as they are new to their respective jobs. We are missing several starters from last year, Abe, Mawae etc etc....and though it seems everyone is relying on the draft, I would expect only the first round picks to be walk up starters come the first game. Further there are huge question marks over key positions on the roster...these questions cannot be answered satisfactorily in one off season. Out of the draft I'm hoping for one offensive and one defensive playmaker....the rest of the picks will more than likely be playing back up for at least one season. Maybe our second rounder will be in the mix as well. Teams on our schedule look to be ahead of us in many ways....you just can't plug the holes we have with free agency and the draft: this season will be one of transition for the club, and to be honest I think we'll be lucky to get 5 wins. In fact I'm not focusing on win/losses this coming season....what I hope to see is improvement throughout the season from the first game to the last, and also some onfield appearance of all the changes Mangini and Tanny have made. ie some actual improvement in the skills of players because of some one on one skills coaching undertaken by the Jets coaching staff. This season is going to be a very long one for the Jets and the fans: all we can do is support the team as best we can, and not get to down on them if they have a long losing streak, which in my opinion is likely to happen. We are now putting in the building blocks for future success: what we do in this season will pay off some seasons down the track, let's all remember that during the season.
The good news this is the NFL and most of the league sucks. There really aren't any top to bottom solid teams anymore. On paper the Jets looks to be a steaming pile of **** we may turn out to be as mediocre as most of the league and a break or two away from 9 & 7 and outsourcing a team of programmers from MIT to figure out the tiebreakers.
Proud to note.....This post was made in April of '06'....Ole...Run_N_Gun10 called it..... :jets:
This guy wants me to stop creating threads...lol hmy: Looks like I'm right on the money about Vince Young also....
What are you trying to achieve? Do you really think that anyone is thinking 'DAMN IM SO PISSED OFF THAT THE JETS EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS' Whats the point in posting so much, talking yourself up
Nice job, Run'nGun: I posted a few times on this thread and I'm very happy to admit that I got it wrong and you were right. With a bit of luck we could have been 12 and 4 this season, when I have to admit I thought we'd be 4 and 12 in April.
