I have nothing against Rex as a person, and think he is a superb DC. However, as an in-game head coach, he is atrocious.
The Jets franchise would be a perennial Super Bowl contender if "moral victories" counted as real victories.
I know, I know, but this team is so outmatched in coaching, and in talent, and we still only lost by 1 lousy point. We could have lost 45-3...
You just don't get sacked on 3rd down within reasonable FG range esp late in the 4th quarter losing by 1. It's just basic football. Any Qb knows that.
And the Jets, with all of their ineptitude, could have had a real victory today, had their coaching staff shown minimal aptitude and game awareness. I don't care one iota for moral victories. In the NFL, only real victories matter. When the Jets get a front office and coaching staff, and talent base, that coaches and plays this way, then maybe the Jets will be something other than a laughingstock.
I completely understand your point. I guess at this point, it just doesn't hurt to lose. Even if it is the Patriots. Tomorrow my life won't be any different than it would have had we won. Now next year, we face the Pats week 1 and lose? Yes, THEN I'd be devastated.
