I like this move. He played fairly well in his 1.5 seasons w/ JAX. They're just so bad and are in a wholesale rebuild, I doubt anyone over 30 is safe ;)

I like the Babin move. Seems like a good low risk, high reward situation.

It's not a big deal, he had his knee scoped and they were hoping to get him back before camp started, he can be activated any day.

babin will be listed as a olb but will prob never take any snaps there..he will prob just back up coples or pace on the edge on passing downs.. babin is awful on early downs from poor against the run, and also was a bad fit standing up in a 3-4

The Ryan Era is full of examples of former all-stars joining the team as successful role players. Hopefully this is more LaDainian Tomlinson and less Ed Reed.

Phew! I got this confused with regular season PUP. I didn't know there was a difference. The oline is so precarious right now. They can't afford any losses.

Worried... or do they want to help the CBs? There's a difference. We have some young and inexperienced corners. I think you can help them out without being "worried". I think it's pretty smart. As someone pointed out, Pace had a career resurgence last year behind our D Line. Babin is a better pass rusher, so why not kick the tires? You can get yourself depth and help your youth in the process.

well its no secret the jets have ignored these types of pass rushers in the draft so why not bring them in this way. a bit similar to what the pats used to do with veteran guys at LB.

well we did draft 3 OG in 2013 so i would hope 2 of them (winters included) should be ready to ball.

I see some doubting how well Babin fits in a 3-4, but he may well be a help with backing up Coples and Pace.

Odd man out here may be MacIntyre...

doesnt matter if he does or doesnt fit.babin will not play any base package. he will only put his hand in the dirt and rush from the edge on passing situation..and i cant see macintyre cut..he would be the one to replace anyone on the 1st two downs/base package and play the run.
since non of our edge players or complete players this is what has to happen.

agreed. the giants won the sb twice with mediocre corners, but a great pass rush from the d-line. the jets can duplicate that formula with couples, richardson, wilkerson, babin, harrison, pace, barnes, douzable rotation so you have fresh guys on passing downs.

I have no problem with this deal, especially with Barnes coming off surgery.

It starts up front. Being able to control the line of scrimmage and pressure the QB consistently is so pivotal to a teams success on defense. With this Jets D-Line/pass rushers, we have the ability to do that. You can get by with average corners. And to be fair we still don't know what Milliner is yet. I'm personally expecting him to be much better then average. Patterson is a solid player, McDougle has potential. I don't think the corner situation is as bad as some people like to make it out to be.

Gotta like this move. I have to hand it to Idzik, I got up in arms when he was quiet to start FA but he made deliberate moves and put together a roster that could be strong from top to bottom if a few key young guys (read: Geno) perform to their ceilings with the exception of OL. In fairness there were too many holes to address every unit so at least one had to suffer, at least there are still two cornerstones on the OL to hold it together and ensure that unit has a chance to at least be average. Assuming Barnes can get healthy this move should be the last piece to make the defense a potentially fierce beast for the first time since '09/'10 (and maybe fiercer). Definitely excited for this season, who knows maybe they could get hot come winter time and shock the world this year.
