This is too good to be true. I have had my reservations about taking a QB at #4, but if this trade becomes real I have no problem with taking either Cutler or Young. Then I think we take Williams or White at #9. We get our QB of the future and our RB of the present. Round 2 - O-Line. Everyone should stop thinking about this right now, before the karmic forces of the universe notice any happiness in Jet Nation.
I never suggested drafting Mangold at 9. I love the guy, but if we drafted him that high I would probably cry myself to sleep. Mario Williams will (most likely) be a sick player in this league. I'm just very concerned about this O-line/HB situation as I think they are glaring needs. However, I really can't say I would be upset If we did Draft Super Mario.
I know, if this came about it would be right up there with the 4 picks we had in the 2000 draft. I am with the a lot of the guys. We get a QB with the 4th - trade down 2 slots if it is available. Then we pick up Williams or White with the 9th. Offensively, working on the line in rounds 2 and 3 or something like that; or 2 and 4. It would just be a matter of time before we would be a credible force on offense. I still wouldn't expect overnight miracles, but the future would look very much on track.
Dang, if this is true we have to JUMP on the deal immediately!! Trade down, and take DeAngelo Williams with that pick and Vernon Davis with the #9
I think Cutler is going to be gone at 3, so if we had the 4th and 9th picks I'd take Mario Williams to replace Abe at 4 and then Vince Young at 9 if he's there. I think the best thing would be Cutler at 4 though and then DeAngelo at 9. Great QB and RB for the future. And for those of you who say we don't need a RB because we have CURTIS, you're wrong.
That would be sick to have the 4 and 9 draft choices. We could take D'Brick with 4 overall, and like Deangelo Williams or Lendale White 9 overall. Then we could take more O-line later in the draft and defense.
Martin is on the downside of his career and is not a gamebreaker...personally, I thought it was torture watching him run last year. Houston might be an OK complimentary back. Blaylock is not going to be with this team much longer.
Martin was HURT and with the offensive line we had not even Barry Sanders would have done anything.Blaylock should have not been signed. And Houston give hm a chance he looked decent with the line we had.
Martin can't carry the load anymore. Houston is a big question mark. I think he's a capable back, but I would rather take a chance on Deangelo or White. I've never been a big fan of Blaylock. White = Huge back. Great between the tackles. Will run over defenders. Deangelo = Fast and powerful (for his size). Great hands. He has a chance to be the next Faulk/Thomlinson.
If they draft a RB, Blaylock is done for sure (although I guess he could complete with Houston for a roster spot).
exactly! and 4 capable RB's on the roster isn't such a bad thing. Just ask the Carolina Panthers. cheers
1. Mario Williams 1. DeAngelo 2. Croyle or 1. Ngata 1. DeAngelo or I wouldn't even hate a trade up to get Reggie Bush in that situation. 4 and 9 for the #1 pick would give Houston a slight edge in the deal, but it's basically even. I think Houston might add a little more because they might want to trade down.
Holy cow that would be the worst trade in the history of trading.. If we gave up two top 10 picks for a RB I will freak out..
Even if Bush could walk on water, I would not give the #4 and the #9 pick in the draft away for him. This draft is too talented to make a mistake like that.
