Some how I have a hard time believing that the lions would be willing to give up their first round pick, but hey, they did draft three wide recievers in a row in the first round.
Lmao..you quoted yourself. Yeah i was thinking the same about the 4 spot..unless the FO wants a qb at that spot but i say we shouldnt...we should get ramsey, and get a player like mario which is about shaun ellis's size that can play in a 3-4 and mangold later in the first and then get gilles.
I could believe it. Because lions need a pass rusher they wont get mario at 9 and if they want to trade up they would have to lose another pick, trading with us they would get a proven pro bowl rusher and an extra pick.
i like the trade, i would do it in a heartbeat. take advantage of millen while he's still running a team.
I don't have a hard time believing this at all. They're investing in a known commodity who has been to three of the last five Pro Bowls. They brought in Martz and Henderson, and Millen's job is on the line if he doesn't get it done soon. It's not highly likely that a guy who is drafted nine(Tamba Hali, Kiwanuka?) is going to perform better this year OR long term than Abraham would have, so I think they'd rather have Abraham than some guy at nine who would be an unknown. Abraham, Wilkinson, Rogers, and Hall would be a very formidable front four to go with those speedy Detroit Linebackers. -X-
Yeah, I don't know why I quoted myself lol. I should change my name to Typical Noob... Anyway, I actually don't think we should address the D-line at all during the early parts of the draft. If we are able to grab a big body via free agency (would LOVE Maake Kemoeatu in the middle), I think we could throw Robertson and Ellis on the ends and see how that works out this year. We should definately focus on the offensive side of the ball (O-line, HB) early on in the draft, assuming we get Ramsey.
I like the trade, too. It gives us a ton more options than we had. I would like it better if we could give them ABE straight, but they would probably not bite on that. Instead of our third, does anyone think they would take the KC/Herm pick in the 4th round instead?
something tells me that if they are desperate enough to give up #9 for Abe than they are desperate enough to take a second day pick back..
Don't think we can trade the KC pick can we? And if we don't pull the trigger we're retarded. Who to pick at 9 tho?
If Tannenbaum can pull this off, then he's doing a great job. While we should trade down the 9, IMO, Winston Justice may be there which isn't too far below what we would get with D'Brick.
We can definitly try robertson as an end. And ofcourse we should adress the offensive side of the ball. But mangold can be had later than 9 if we had that pick. And the other offensive linemen also. But im just thinking if they go a 3-4, they should use it in certain plays. And keep the 4-3, the players on defense well most of them have been playing a 4-3, obviously in the playoffs also. Offenses will crumble they wont know what to expect. I know its easier said then donr but if you know a defense by heart, and adding new 3-4 scheme plays as your special plays, then those proffesional players who get paid millions are capable to use their brain a little more to achieve it. But c'mon mario williams he's 6'6 285 and fast and somewhat agile he is strong and his talent at his size alone puts him over the top as a replacement for #56. We can groom this kid to be a beast. And who at that size can be very durable.
Either Cutler or Young should be available at 9. Vernon Davis should also be available. Greenway will be there to as will most likely be all the RB's except Bush. Tye Hill or Jimmy Williams is probably a reach at that point. Many will argue that taking a RB in the 1st round is always a poor value. Davis, Greenway, and Cutler or Young will most likely be the highest value pick left at nine. At 4 you have D'Brick, Hawk or a possible trade down. The Raiders and SF both would like the 4th pick to take Hawk.
