That's not really a surprise though. All it says is that Vegas felt that that line would have the best chance at them getting 50/50 action is what they want anyways. Both teams have a horrible public image atm so it's not like this game will be a popular one to bet on either way... Records aside, and homefield advantage aside this is how the teams match up: Jets #20 Rushing O Dolphins #30 Rushing D Jets #25 Passing O Dolphins #3 Passing D(inflated by a large amount because everyone just runs on us) Dolphins #15 Rushing O(inflated because of Ronnie Brown) Jets #31 Rushing D Dolphins #26 Passing O Jets #19th Passing D Dolphins: 16.6 PPG/25.2 PA Jets: 16.5 PPG/25.3 PA Obviously, barring any strange events this will probably be another 3 pt game Being a dog this week isn't necessarily a bad thing for one main reason: Vegas got completely annihilated with just about every big public team covering except New England. Green Bay, Dallas, Indy, etc.. all covered. I would not be surprised if the majority of the dog teams this week covered. IMO They can't make NYJ favorites here because no one would then take the Dolphins. The real line should be NYJ -1 or NYJ -1.5
There is something almost supernatural here in that the '72 Dolphins perfect season has never ever been under threat like it is now coupled with their 2007 incumbents losing all 16 games. I don't know if I should laugh or cry.
Thats what i've been saying to all these Phin fans down here...So many I know weren't around in '72, however they always bring it up. As much as i HATE the Pats....I wouldn't mind them breaking the '72 Phins record. IMO :finssuck:
Oh boy, we haven’t has the chance to load up on the Jets this season, but this is the week to do it. From a pure gambling perspective, this spread is ripe for the picking. The gambling public has seen two things that are swaying their bets on Miami. They saw the Jets embarrass themselves on Thanksgiving at Dallas and saw Miami stay competitive with Pittsburgh Monday Night. They are not taking into account some elements that affect this match up. First, the Jets were playing on three days rest against one of the best teams in the league with a quarterback making only his fourth start. Think about this: if it was Miami playing the Cowboys last Thursday, what would the score have been? Second, we need to see how the Jets performed with extra preparation. Just a week and a half ago the Jets beat the Steelers coming off their bye week With an extra three days to prepare for this game, the Jets have an advantage. Finally, the Dolphins will be fatigued physically and mentally. Playing with one less day of rest and doing after playing in tough conditions, Miami will be the more fatigued team. They also came close to winning, but didn’t. Though the Jets are a division rival and they believe they may win, losses like the one they just experienced are harder and harder to deal with mentally.
Last week's line was vegas begging people to take the Jets, though they probably figured it would be a blowout. This week it looks like Vegas is making up for it, making the Jets a good bet. i wouldnt put any money on the Dolfags whether I was a Jets fan or not.
F that. We're going to destroy them. The fact that they we're contenders Monday night was a weather/ground conditions FLUKE. I must reiterate: If we lose this game, I will voluntarily wet my pants in front of everyone I'm with on Sunday.
That's the real key. The only two games we have played really well were the games after our bye weeks in each of the last two years.
Underdogs to an 0-11 team? hmy: That's depressing. I hope the team is prepared for the game on Sunday. For this Jets team, no game is a guaranteed win, and with this teams storied luck, we will get beaten. I don't care about draft order and whatnot this weekend. It's all about pride this Sunday. They are having a terrible season themselves, but the Jets can't lost to an 0-11 team, especially that it's Miami. It just won't be acceptable.
Jets will lose. Miami hung in there on the road against Pitt, Philly, NYG, CLE and Washington. They also nearly beat us at HOME in September when we had a better QB.
Both of these teams have changed quite a bit since there first meeting. Which has changed for the better is hard to say, but at least the Jets have notched a few W's.
If the New York Jets lose sunday too one of the worst teams in the history of sports i will declare this the worst team in the history of the NFL. I Think we will though. Hope So.
Outside of CLE who we didnt play yet, we have hung with each of those teams(Beat PIT). I dont think us hosting WSH, PHI or PIT mattered since 80-85% of the stadium was filled with the opposition fans. We are an amazing 1st half team, but our 2nd half have been horrific and have been the worst in the NFL in points allowed.
Two weeks ago: Jets beat Steelers Last week: Steelers beat Dolphins This week: ? I'm just going to watch the game and try to be entertained one way or another.
