I'm 100% sure these guys lined up their ducks in a row the week or two after the draft when they saw who didn't get drafted, there was no negotiating with Holmes/Edwards/etc then - so they know who they want to contact. And they have to bring in UDFA's to fill out the roster before camp, someone's going to be working on it. Plus there's only so much negotiating you can do until a player has an ability to sign somewhere. My only concern is that you don't know what kind of shape these guys have been keeping themselves in since they didn't get drafted.
Given all our questions at the Safety position I'm not sure how we can pass on all the supposed UDFA talent at the position. However, over the last few years, I've learned to trust in Tanny, Bradway, and the whole scouting crew. They must not like what they see or TannyRex has someone else they're targeting.
Yup- RichCimini Rich Cimini Former Virginia Tech SS Davon Morgan tweets that he has a deal with the #Jets. A second-team all-ACC last season.
Confirmation from Vrentas Confirmed Notre Dame OG Chris Stewart will sign with Jets. He's planning to head to NJ today. #nyj
Bellore is a decent get. Ranked pretty highly as far as UDFA's. The first gut that signed out of NW Mizou is a FB not a TE.

Jenny Vrentas Monmouth OL Tom Ottaiano is also headed to Jets as UDFA, per person with knowledge. #nyj
I'm pretty sure I had Bellore in one of my mocks as a late rounder. Let me find that thread and I'll re-post what I had about him. He's got a chance to stick around as a backup ILB - very smart, solid football player. *Update: I didn't do a write-up on this player, but I had him ranked highly as an ILB prospect. Very productive.
We cut Ben Hartsock and Jeff Cumberland needs some competition. This team lacks a blocking tight end now that Hartsock's gone - Mulligan shouldn't see any offensive snaps...he's a special teamer.
I like this signing a lot. Morgan seems like a good fit for the Jets defense--he is very comfortable coming up into the box and making tackles (I believe he had over 80 in his senior season.) Plus, according to a buddy of mine who's a huge Hokies fan, Morgan is one of those players who isn't afraid to do the dirty work on special teams (which is a very good way to ingratiate yourself with the Jets coaching staff.)
