You are aware that Abe was offered the same GENEROUS deal as Ellis, before Ellis, and that he turned his nose up at it right? See ya Abe, as far as I am concerned you are a guy with potential who never fully lived up to his reputation...I will now have to find another use for your #94 jersey

I agree, Abe's a much bigger loss than people think...nobody we get at 29 will come close to replacing his production. Maybe if we had 22nd pick, I'd feel much better, because we could get Maroney and Cutler, a young QB and RB for the future, but I don't see Maroney being there at 29.
Snyder spends money every offseason like he's about to win a SB, and he's been in love with Abe for years. Hell, let him mortgage his team's future, it makes no matter to me. As long as he pays up. I wouldn't be surprised if Snyder was somehow helping the Jets jack the price up on Abe to Denver to get a sweetheart deal involving Ramsey and some low-rounders. So much goes on behind the scenes that I've begun to quit guessing. And there's some kind of funky buddy-buddy stuff going on between the Jets and Snyder, has been going on since the Jetskins fiasco. I don't understand it at all.
Too bad Abraham turned down the contract they gave Ellis. It's no one else's fault but Abraham's. So I will definitely say goodbye to him.
I would guess that any potential Redskin deal is contigent on an agreement being reached on the new CBA.
Dude, take a freaking chill pill...and really, I don't appreciate the condescending tone. I am well aware that teams use differant values for drafts and year, etc. The chart is just one of many tools used by NFL FOs when evaluating trades. I was using it to illustrate my point that, AMONG OTHER THINGS, the trade of 3 high DPs for one player this year would not only be unlikely, but not in the best interests of the organization.
Oh and by the way, here is another version... http://thehuddlereport.com/NickelPackage/tradevaluechart.htm
Losing Abe will be a crushing blow to the Jets franchise. It takes our defense from being one of the better units in the league (when healthy) to being a total joke. Without the pass rush that Abraham generates and the coverage skills of Ty Law, the Jets secondary will be overwhelmed unless a competent replacement comes in on the defense.
We didn't struggle at the end of 2004 without either of them. I'm not saying it's not going to hurt, but it didn't seem to affect us that badly considering Thomas proved adequate. Right end won't be our problem. Our left side with Robertson & Ellis was the problem all season especially without Barton at all. That was scary seeing our whole left side taken out of every god damn play.
That is an understatement. They can not even mathematically get under the cap as it stands today. I love it too, that's exactly what they get for trying to take the Yankee approach in the NFL.
Maybe cutting Mawae clears room because they're trying to keep Abraham. One thing about them saying nothing to the press, you never really know. They have no track record to go on and they don't say anything. So it's all speculation at this point. Everything we hear is just guesses and assumptions.
We made the playoffs 3 times with Abraham, I highly doubt that we can make them again without deftly replacing him. If your goal is to draft Brady Quinn next year, congratulations, trading Abraham can get you 4-12 or lower.
