What team would ever give you a SECOND ROUND PICK for a 35 year old center who is coming off a torn tricep ?

Here's a hint..there are teams involved in trades who have their OWN self interest at heart.

Hey..if its all about what the Jets get..then hold out for a FIRST ROUND PICK!

Ridiculous the way some of you approach this stuff!

PS: They are going to cut him anyway.

Bingo. Until we get word from an official course, this thread falls under the category of false info to me.

Also, nobody's trading for Mawae. This isn't the NBA. Nobody trades for oldies. Much less a first day pick.

Abraham was a #1 pick in 2000, # 15 or so, right? So how is it possible that he can go to a few Pro Bowls, prove himself, be in his prime, and be worth any less now than he was in 2000? It doesn't make any sense.

Like you said, 4 maybe...if we're lucky. If we trade him, which I doubt becuase teams think he'll be released, a 5 is probably what we get.

Pretty sure Isaih would give up a #2 for him

OOPS..he traded that pick for a 30+ overpaid player already.

The Jets took him at #13. They actually drafted Ellis at #12. Pennington was #18. Anthony "Stone Hands" Becht was #27.

It's cool. OK, new rule. From here on, anyone who uses the words Knick, Jim Dolan, or Isiah Thomas should automatically put their post in the BS forum, because that's what it is.

Why do I care what some dude with a webcam says? I could buy a webcam and start posting videos of my opinions on the team too. Most of the stuff he says is stuff everyone else already knows anyways, so its basically a waste of time. And for the record, NFL Radio was talking about Abraham yesterday, Randy Cross, John Riggins, and Adam Schein (all guys who have some pretty good football knowledge) mentioned that the Jets have John's value way too high in their own minds. They said Abraham, with the amount of money he will cost and his talent level, is worth a mid 2nd rounder, and maybe a high 3rd rounder. They said that teams right now are not looking to spend more money as they get under the cap, but instead are looking to clear space to sign the best rookies they can get, then looking to free agents to fill holes. I agree.

Thanks. So I don't get how he could be worth any less now that he's lived up to his draft position than he was when it was just potential. He's only 28 or so.

    Hey guys, Bronco fan here.

I could see something along these lines happening. Broncos defensive coordinator Larry Coyer has already gone on record as saying that upgrading the pass rush is a priority this year. Trevor Pryce was released yesterday because of his cap number of over $10 million, so that leaves a big void at DE.

The Broncos got just under the cap yesterday with their moves but will get even more cap space when they either sign Matt Lepsis & Gerard Warren to new deals (which would bring both of their cap numbers down) or let them walk (both deals will void at midnight tonight).

Nothing is being reported out here, but it wouldn't shock anyone if this deal did happen.

There was some poster out of Colorado that had gotten banned a while ago. I believe it was TALKHOST but I'm not sure. He had a website and posted all the rumors out of that area. Anybody remember the site? Chances are something would be posted on there Denver in fact is planning to make the deal. Of course for them to make the deal, I'd have to believe they would have a longterm deal in place first.

According to 1050AM radio a little while ago, Abraham's camp is going to throw a "press conference" of all things, later today. They were speculating that Abe will sign the $8 million Franchise Deal just to "stick it to the Jets," because he and his agent are pissed about the Franchise Tag again and they know it counts IMMEDIATELY against the cap.

This supposedly puts the Jets in a panic situation over the Cap and forces them to either cut another player this afternoon to get under by midnight or let Abe out altogether as a free agent, which is what he wanted all along and would mean he could be picked up and we basically get nothing (maybe a compensatory pick down the road depending...).

I highly doubt that the Jets have not taken this move into consideration in recent days and anticipated this back door, back-stabbing move by Abe and his agent at the last minute and that we've made the necessary room to eliminate this last-minute threat, but it's still a hassle. If he signs and we do have the room, he could be traded as early as tomorrow and we'd receive something in return in a trade deal, so I'm sure MT and EM have been on top of this.

I do like the way Abe played for us (when he was healthy and when he felt like contributing and when he wasn't whining and bitching), but it's best now that he's outta here. He'd never fit Mangini's mold of a team player. This guy would be a hindrance and a menace in the locker room and someone we dodn't need no matter how good his pass-rush can be when he feels like turning it on. Good riddance, John.

On paper you are absolutely right on. The problem is he costs a bunch more money than he did coming out of college. Now, with the apparent glut of FA players who will be on the market we could very well not get a first round pick for him.

It would really help the Jets out if a new collective bargaining agreement can be reached because if the cap adjusts upward to 105 to 110M that would help preserve FA value.
