Jets are trying to trade up for a QB

Geno Smith - QB - Player
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Jets have made calls to "multiple teams" about trading up from No. 39 in an attempt to select a quarterback.

    ---------
NFL.com's Gil Brandt reports the Eagles (No. 35) and Jets (No. 39) are expected to take quarterbacks with their second-round picks, and that three QBs are likely to come off the board between picks 33-39.
The Jaguars are reportedly leaning toward a defensive back at No. 33, but every other QB-needy team selecting in the second round's first 10 picks appears to be thinking quarterback. It's almost certainly why West Virginia QB Geno Smith canceled his plans to bolt New York after going undrafted on Thursday evening. The New York Daily News expects the Jets to take a "good, hard look" at Smith, but the Philadelphia Inquirer isn't getting the Smith "vibe" for the Eagles.

If Geno (or any quarterback) comes here, your boy won't be starting. I can understand hissy fit.

I'm losing patience w/ this FO already. And I'm sick of constantly moving up and losing picks. If we really want a QB there will be one at 39. Who cares if it's Geno Smith, Nassib or Glennon. Someone WILL be there and they are all about the same. I will be ripped if we trade up.

I'll remind you of that when he has a sub Sanchez game on a cold, wet night in New York in December.

Yeah because Geno Smith in the 2nd round would be a disaster, from the same franchise that took Kellen Clemens in the 2nd round and has Mark Sanchez starting, Geno Smith would be an absolute disaster with his mobility 10/1 td/int ratio and 70% + completion %.

WTF is with this franchise, fanbase, etc... that you are like completely adversed to any offensive player? Eifert isn't good enough, Warmack was a reach, Geno who was the #1 overall pick on a lot of Mocks in round 2 is now a disaster? With what we have at QB?

I hope it is one of those things where 2-3 years down the road we look back thankful we were wrong and Idzik was right but I will be livid if we move up to take a QB.

I'm down if we don't give up to much. I'll take smith or nassib. I think we can stay at 39 and grab one of them

It sucks that we drafted Sanchez, because Barkley is the best fit in the WCO.

I hope this is BS. I can stomach our first two picks as long as we get some legit starters in other positions as well (G, S, OLB, TE and maybe a RB through draft or trade for Ivory) but just say no to Geno. Draft a QB in the 4th or 5th and if (when?) they don't pan out then draft the best QB possible at our spot next year.

I'm putting my trust in Idzik with his selections. I'm not thrilled with them, but I'll play along.

If Geno Smith is there at 39 and u take him. Fine. I will NOT be upset for creating competition in the most important position on this team.

However, if u move up....I don't know whAt I'll do.

Where are all the people who after the first round were praising the front office saying "they know better" than us fans and that we should just trust Idzik's brilliant rebuilding program??

    Smokescreen for sure.

Just like how we were "intersted" in Nassib at #9 to try to force Buffalo's hand.
I think we were looking to take Austin and tried to cover it up with the Nassib talk.

We're probably trying to do the samething to take someone else, Ertz perhaps.
