I understand about the prorated money, but imo you're looking at it wrong. $6 million is the cap hit for Clady, and it's still half the price (actually, less than half) of $14.1 million, which is what Brick's cap hit would have been. That's the crux of the issue. Even if Clady hits the incentives, $7.5 million is only slightly over half of the $14.1 million. The $5 million in dead money would have still been on the cap if Brick was here, it would just have been included in the $14.1 million. In addition, we save a bunch of money on the cap next year as well.
I respectfully disagree. IMO Bowles was following that lax doofus Rex where the players got away with murder. It had nothing to do with Bowles' own standards of right and wrong, but rather establishing a new expectation of discipline and staying out of trouble off the field. Bowles wanted to show that there was a new sheriff in town and that kind of behavior would not be tolerated. No team cuts a star like Richardson. They cut scrubs to make their point. He had to make an example out of a player or players. I think you overrate Aboushi's abilities. If I'm not mistaken he is better-suited to a zone blocking scheme. Strength is not his strong point. The Jets employ a man blocking scheme. I don't think he would have been that effective here. Then there's the issue of Aboushi's stance on terror and Israel. Do you seriously think that would fly in NYC with the huge Jewish population and the city where the worst of the 9/11 attacks occurred?
Should had been 11-5 and a playoff berth. But no Fitz choked in 4th quarter like he done his whole career.
I'm not looking at it wrong. The most important thing to the team is the cap hit. The difference in cap hit is either $3M or $1,5M depending how the incentives hit, that's the crux of the issue. You don't just get to act as if the $5M dead money cap hit for Brick does not exist, it is still on the cap. In addition you have no idea how much is saved on the cap next year because you do not know what the cap hit for the LT will be next year. If they exercise Clady's option then it could be up to $13M, a $1.3M savings on what Bricks cap hit would have been, doesn't sound like a bunch of money to me.
hopefully U R aware what I posted is TOTAL fact. Now when was the last time U saw the NYJs become WORLD CHAMPIONs?
I'm not touching the political portion of this comment. However, Aboushi did a very good job when Winters went down at the LG position. As you stated, he was still in the ZBS that MM used, and the team with Geno at QB was in the top 10 in rushing offense. Does it mean he could not have adjusted? We won't know, because he was cut after coming back from a one game suspension for charges that he was cleared from. I'm just hoping that the jets can some how find a way to fix this line.
aboushi sucked. from the time he got here until the time he left. he was not a very good player. i believe it had far more to do with the fact he sucks than the fact he is a palestinian who hates israel.
I hope U R aware that it has been 10 SUNDAYS or to say it another way TWO AND A HALF MONTHS since WAFFLE HOUSE has had the SCATTERED SMOTHERED AND COVERED HASH BROWNS on special.
