Sounds versatile but also am getting the sense he is more of a strong safety-type. Sounds like more effective version of Whitehead because he apparently tackles and plays run defense well. My guess is they target a FS within the first 3 rounds of the draft or free agency
There is a utube video posted by a Ravens fan who seems astounded by the compensation - most comments in that video were thinking at the very least the Jets would have to give a 5th round pick in exchange for Clark….so far looks like JD did it again lol.
Solid player. As stated good vs the run. Good pickup imo. He was torched several times on long passes but Ravens went through a lot of turnovers at secondaries due to injuries.
Ravens were going to cut him as they have two starting safeties arleady. Agreed - basically this is Whitehead level player, who is an upgrade over Joyner, but for only 2.5 mil. Didn't give up much - think of it as early FA signing of a solid safety to upgrade Joyner.
This guy is a decent tackler but can be a shaky pass defender. I love good tacklers and I know the staff does as well. He's a one year band aid because he's cheap, but probably an upgrade over the 2021 version of Joiner.
Wow. This is a pleasant surprise. I think it Def means Whitehead is gone. Clark is versatile but not very good at deep center.
Whiteheads missed tackles really jumped out last year. It was a bad signing for the money. With Joyner also ineffective I’d expect we aren’t done making moves at S. Position is super thin, but Clark’s a start.
I am not sure Whitehead is gone, though he could be. I think we are just improving the roster. Clark is an upgrade over Joyner. With Whitehead, Clark, and Adams, the room is better than before this trade. It's unlikely we can get a fringe starter, an average safety like that with a 7th rounder. I think it is just a solid move to improve the room, but does not necessarily mean Whitehead is gone.
That's fine. Whitehead was good in the box, but garbage in coverage. I expected him to be a better player overall. Idk if Clark is better all around, but even if he's the same player as Whitehead at least the salary is more aligned. Whitehead gets paid too much.
i really like him at SS. This D still needs a true center fielder. He is a upgrade over Whitehead. Although, a ball hawking FS is hard to find, i think they will draft one in round 1-3 and release whitehead. Chauncey gardner johnson is a option but he will be looking for a HUGE contract.
It’s funny…when I first saw the news of a late round pick I thought it was for a backup type 3rd stringer…yet here I’m seeing he’s a very solid to very good starter so I’m confused,,,,why so cheap?
His contract expires after the season and he dropped on the Ravens depth chart. Good tackler but kind of shaky in coverage.
Final year of his deal, they have a surplus at safety and the cap hit is 4 million. I guess they wanted to get anything for him before they just cut him.
