We may not have to give up a second if AJ Hawk or Williams is there at 4 and the 9ers really are bleeding for this guy then we can rob them of their two first rounders. if that does happen: 6) Jay Cutler 22) Ernie Sims, LB 29) Marcus McNeill
yeah i mentioned players to take in that scenario earlier, and Ernie Sims is exactly who I'd want at 22 but I didnt mention him cuz i dont think hell be there. he possibly could be cuz to me a team i think SHOULD pick him up is Tampa Bay(23rd pick). they thrive off defense and Ernie Sims could crack the starting spot at S or LB if not his 1st yr definitely his 2nd. also his play reminds me ALOT of Derrick Brooks who will be retiring soon.
You got your hands on the Niners and Jet's value charts for this draft? Otherwise the chart is meaningless you know. Remember two years ago when the Giants traded their 1st that year and the next year for a 1st that year? Did the draft value chart match up for that?
I can see San Francisco wanting to leapfrog Green Bay in order to grab Mario Williams. However, if they felt he would be available at #4, they wouldn't have traded for an extra first rounder. They could have just given us their 3rd round pick and gotten back a 4th or 5th in the deal. #6 + #22 for #4 + #35, while roughly a fair trade puts them back in the second round, only 2 spots higher than they started. It doesn't seem to make much sense. In my opinion, they're either moving all the way up to #1 or #2 to grab Bush or Mario Williams, or they're targetting Hawk or Davis at #6 and a RB or Wimbley at #22.
First of all - let me say that this is speculation on my part...but speculation fueled by the article on CNN.SI that says the 49ers are positioning themselves to move up to nab either Mario Williams or AJ Hawk. Second, as I said in the opening post of this thread, it is dependent on: a) whether the Saints want to move down and let the Niners have Williams with the #2 overall pick...or b) if the Saints stand pat and take Williams, whether the Niners indeed (as CNN.SI indicates) are hot for AJ Hawk. Now, if Williams falls to #4 or the Niners love Hawk that much, then the Jets would be in a good position to make this trade. As far as the "value charts" you guys keep yapping about...they mean nothing if a team has the hots for a particular player or a strong need at a particular position. This isn't rotissere football folks...value charts are used as a guide, not the rule. Anyone remember what we gave up and received in the trade for the #4 pick that got us Dwayne Robertson? We gave up the #14 and #22 in the first round for the #4 overall. We didn't get anything else! gg
Te If anyone seriously thinks the Jets would take Davis unless they do it at 22 or 29, then you've got to be kidding! If Tangini did that, I'd have serious doubts about their competancy.
im tired of hearing this Vernon Davis crap if we trade down. We dont need a TE and he would be a waste of a pick at 4.
If we did this I would seriously jump for joy. But thats not a good move on the 49ers part. DOnt count on it/.
I dont know why anybody thinks we cant draft a te I dont think yall realize WE DONT HAVE A STARTING TE ON THE TEAM, vernon davis is a freak and it would be stupid not to realize how great he can be. We dont have gates, or gonzles. And its stupid to reasonably belive he could be at 22 or 29. Hes a top 10 pick.
Take it, that would be a fantastic trade. 4 picks in the top 35. #6 #22 #29 #35 That is unreal. Take it if offered. Take the BPA for our need at #6, take DeAngelo at #22 (or best available back if he is off the board) and maybe go RT at #29 (McNeil). 9 days...
The jets dont want Young, i love him but the jets are only taking Leinert and if hes not available then nobody.
I'm sorry maybe I just shouldn't post from then on. Besides, this is a policing board after all, not a board to discuss opinions and speculation. :breakdance:
My take on it. If Mario Williams falls to 4 then the Jets HAVE that sexy pick and the phones will be ringing. You might see 3 things in my humble opinion A. 49ers trade up to draft williams we go to 6 and get the 6 and the 22. B. GreenBay trades up to ensure they get the defensive guy they covet whether it is williams or hawk nobody knows. Jets then fall to 5 and steal a pick C. We stay put.
It's quite ironic that ever since you were called out for horrific grammar and spelling last year, all you do now is correct the grammar and spelling of others.
Hey now, don't take it that way. There's one thing to speculate about a trade, there's another to point to that chart and use it as a fact. Just ignore the chart and you'll be fine.
Ignoring the chart, my gut reaction would be that theres no way in hell the 49ers give up their other first round pick to move up two spots.
I'll be doing freakin cartwheels if on draft day I'm standing there in Radio City Music Hall and Tags announces this deal. 3 first round picks! 4 in the top 35! and we could still nab Cutler & Justice or McNeil as well as 2 other players? I would love that move so much.
First of all, when you're trading into and out of the top 5 the value chart is irrelevant so you didn't need to give notice to this. But when Bush, Leinart, D'Brick, Mario, and Hawk are pretty much the clear cut top 5 prospects it's going to take another first to move up into it. That's the trend in the NFL.... ex. I'm watching the draft special and the just replayed the 2004 Manning debacle and the Giants gave up 2 1sts and 2 3rds to move up 3 spots. That's how the NFL works.
