Good move, thought they would eventually bring him back.

Good news...keeps the secondary together. I wasn't thrilled with smith starting either.

Rex didn't want his brother to snatch him up:

Confirmed that #Jets re-sign S Brodney Pool, per @LisaZimmerman. It's a 1-year deal, source said. Cowboys were showing interest.

Very happy to see that we're bringing him back although I would be happier if it were Digs we were bringing back. Pool played well when healthy but I think Digs can be even better and as someone pointed out, he's also a good ST guy.

A lot of continuity returning on the defense, which will be huge given it's a short summer. I would love to see Shaun back for another year.

Dig is a good player but he can't cover at all. I'd much rather have Brodney.

Nice move. I honestly had no faith in this happening. Thought they for sure were going with dig. I expect a solid year out of pool

This signing is huge and I'm surprised more people don't see it as such.

As of yesterday, I was very comfortable with our entire defensive roster, except for how we looked at the safety position. Eric Smith simply does not have the skills necessary to cover wide receivers or tight ends in space. He is much more appropriately utilized in heavier sets, or as a 3rd safety on the field when Rex has DBs all over the place.

I was all for the return of Eric Smith, but Pool really developed massively when Leonhard went down last year. I think he's going to make a ton of plays for us on the back end this season.

With this signing, I'm thrilled with the state of the secondary. Having the option of Smith or Pool playing across from Leonhard depending upon opposing personnel groupings, or having either of them to fill in for the other in the event of an injury, are huge benefits to this team. Add Lowery to the mix, and perhaps Digz as well, and I couldn't be happier.

Brodney automatically becomes the tallest safety on the team (he's 6'2").

I also think this signing could be huge ... Poole really looked like he was finally understanding Rex's system late in the year.

That said, i hope there is room for Digs on the roster, but its starting to look crowded in the secondary.

Pool was great the 2nd half of last year.. I'm glad he's back. This doesnt mean Ihedigbo won't be back either.. his main value is on ST.. and u know Westy is pushing for his return

is it really gonna be hard to re-sign dig?? is someone really gonna offer a lot for a special teams specialist? i hope not. i need to re enact his celebrations throughout the season. i'll miss those.
