Good, Pool is nothing special but he knows the system already and is a better starter than Eric Smith.
He came into his own in late season and playoffs last year. Made a lot of big plays in the Pats game.
According to ProFootballFocus, Brodney Pool allowed 16 completions, which was 4th best at his position. Dunno how trust worthy this site is, but alot of people seem to use it now.
I don't get why though... they're different players. Smith is more of a SS while Pool is a FS... I think they can both play together. I also expect we go Leonhard - Pool - Smith in some packages. This sucks for Lowery...
Brodney Pool will likely start over Eric Smith now that he's back on the roster. That means that Eric Smith will become a role player again on defense, while making a big impact (as usual) on specials. This team has a lot of new faces in kick/punt coverage. Brad Smith and James Ihedigbo were excellent on special teams coverage. Marquice Cole wil likely fill one of those spots. ...maybe Emanuel Cook will fill the other.
It gives us more options. Lowery can freelance in dime packages. We can use Smith in some matchups, Pool in others. His 2nd year in the system should be a lot better, he had some communication issues early it seemed like. To me, this means Digs is probably gone. Not definite, because there's still room for another safety, but I like Emanuel Cook. Kid is only 23 years old, want to give him a chance.
