What's with all the hate for Scott?? Dude was integral during our playoff runs. He played injured most of last year, he's not as bad as everyone thinks. His interview after the Pats win was classic. He's forever a jet in my eyes. Bringing him back for vet min would be smart, as he can help mentor Davis and the other linebackers into his position and play when needed to help smooth the transition from the old to the young. You guys act like young rookies should always start right off the bat and get heavy snaps, while the vets should sit despite being more familiar with the system or being a better player on the field at the time. It's not blind loyalty. That is the biggest joke of an excuse I've ever heard. Rex limited Coples snaps during the first half of the season because he hadn't fully grasped the playbook, not because Rex is blindly loyal to Devito. Same with Davis. People have unrealistic expectations for rookies (who are a gamble from the get go) and use it as a scape goat to blame Rex for something. Remember, Pace, Thomas and Scott were all cut. We could use one of them to mentor the young guys, and I'd rather not have Pace. Scott is a leader and vet leadership is priceless on teams with a lot of young players and we lost a lot of leadership over the past 2 seasons.
I would rather move on, we already know what Smith, Scott, and PAce bring and dont bring to the table. SMith is a "maybe" in my book as we are very thin at Safty and he can play ST as well as the BIG Safty in the box for us if need be. The other two are a pass. Let them go to Buffalo
Wasn't Smith going to retire because of multiple concussions? PAce and Scott could be options for vet min but nothing more... and they'd have to play ST (I can see Scott doing that, but Pace?) All in all though I wouldn't mind moving on without them. Some new faces are needed in the organization and Rex is loyal to a fault to "his" guys.
I disagree. Rex plays the best players to help the team win. That whole blind loyalty thing is a joke and myth as I said above. Playing a rookie, just because he's young, is STUPID. If somebody is a rookie and still learning the system, they will get less snaps and the vets will get more. Blind loyalty excuse = blind hatred for Rex. I literally laugh and almost fall out of my chair when people say shit like that. People can't contain their blind hatred for Rex. It's too bad.
Bart Scott was a liability in pass coverage and he slipped big time in run support,,,,,,why bring him back ? There is a reason that he has not hooked up with another team yet,,,,he is a shell of his former self
