I would be okay with Scott being back, but knowing how Rex is loyal to a fault he would play Scott over the young guys. It's time to see what we have in Demario Davis.
I'd take Scott back for a veteran's minimum. He's not as bad as some people think, but he's not an every down player at this stage. The problem is Rex trusts him too much, and I worry if he's on the team, he'd play more than he should. Part of why Davis didn't play as much as he should have. Loved what Scott brought to the team. Was he overpaid? Yes, but he helped bring swagger and toughness to this defense. I'm a Bart Scott fan.
No to bringing back Bart. He's a part time player who doesn't contribute on special teams. Let this be new era of Jets football.
Time to move on from Scott. We are going to keep old declining players or see if someone like Davis can step up?? The Jets won't improve staying with the same players.
^What about giving Davis more reps as Scott contributes more on specials? The guy is a great leader, no idea where the "cancer" comments stem from. I want him on this team.
Its always a bit unsettling when you see players like Scott and Pace and think, god those guys are ancient - then realise they are actually a good few years younger than you are It must be really weird being a pro athlete and having your career pretty much over when you are still a young man. no wonder so many go off the rails.
Scott on ST, you're kidding?? Scott's game has gone downhill, his coverage skills are lacking. Flipping off and cursing reporters doesn't help your reputation. I don't think he's cancer, but he certainly acts before his brain engages.
I don't want Bart Scott back, not even for a vet minimum. we need to give our young guys a chance. if Bart is back, Rex wil undoubtably start him.
If the D Line can open up some gaps for Davis he has the speed to seriously harrass QB's, Im intrested in seeing more of him
Does anyone here think Antonio Allen can win a safety spot and contribute? I liked him in camp last year because he had some picks in practice and had some nice hits in pre season.
I also noticed some positive plays from him in the preseason. My hope was that he'd jump on the field a few plays and just gradually build up experience. Something similar to how DeMario Davis built some experience throughout the season. Haven't read any quotes from Rex on what happened. My guess is that Antonio Allen is out of the picture otherwise he would've seen more time on the field last season. I really want to be wrong though.
Bart's better days have been behind him for the past 2 seasons. It's time for a changing of the guards at the LB'r position. We need to get guys who can play sideline to sideline and can drop into pass coverage.
I was just perusing the list of remaining FA's available and couldn't help but notice all three of these guys are still on the street.
If we're going to hold a roster spot for a part time LBer I'd prefer a young up and coming stud who's thrilled to be playing pro ball for pennies and can take someone's head off on special teams.
