If Plax's attorney can somehow pull off a plea agreement, Plax might not have to do time. That's the only way I see of him not having to go behind bars for the mandatory 3-year sentence. But this would only be if the attorney can convince the prosecutor that he has a weak case. Their best argument will probably be that the gun WAS registered (it had been registered in FL and Plax let the registration lapse), but it HAD BEEN registered previously, albeit not in NYC. so how can you convict him beyond a reasonable doubt if it was registered? So, the wiggle room is (and their argument being): "Hey, my client can't be convicted of carrying an unregistered gun because he at least complied with the spirit of the law in having registered it. He wasn't thrying to get away with anything illegal in NYC, he merely failed to renew his registration in FL." It's a weak argument, but it's the only argument his attorney can make and it might be enough to have the prosecutor back off and say, "Well, okay, there's a slight chance we could lose and he'll go completely unpunished on your technicality, so here's what we'll do.... sign this and agree to serve 3 years community time and pay this fine." I'm not saying this is going to happen, I'm just saying it's probably Plax' only out at this point. The fact remains he was obviously in possession of a gun that was not registered in the city of NY and, if convicted, that carries a mandatory 3-year sentence. Plax' attorney can also throw in, "Hey, this is my client's first offense here and no one was injured except himself! In the court of public opinion my client has already 'served' a sentence for his admittedly stupid act, so to now require him to serve such a harch penalty as 3 years in prison does not fit the crime... cruel and unusual punishment!"
Hey, Dearest, where ya been? I thought you may have been going on "Walk about" again. Glad to read ya again.
Dealt with Ray Lewis? Ray Lewis other than his brush w/ the law was a model player. Let's not forget, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice. Other than that, he has been spotless.
serious question.... every one is talking about the legal issues..... How do we know that since he has shot himself, he will come back at full strength? I mean he had to have surgery, and muscle tissue repaired and things of that sort did he not? How do we know he would play the way he did with the Giants? i don't want him either way, but still its kind of an interesting point to be made, he shot himself in the leg, how do we know he will come back to what he used to be? Oh that and he drops so many easy passes it pisses off Giants fans to no end.
Brush with the Law???? Don't quote me on it exactly, but wasn't he indicted for Murder and Aggevated Assault??? I think thats a little more serious than shooting yourself because your a friggin idiot...
