Scout.com has Clement ranked higher than Pearson in their list of available FA OTs. The best thing we can do is read absolutely nothing into this signing. D'Brick could still happen... I read somewhere that Clement could be best suited to play Guard, we have no idea how these new acquisitions will be used. Think about it, Kendall has experience at OG/C, Teague at OT/C and Clement it says can play OT/OG... at least we are getting that versatility thing down pat.

The thing I like about this signing, even though it's just depth, is that it shows we are looking to get bigger on the OL, something that has been needed for years.

Clement can play multiple positions on the line, so he's a great depth signing. He can fill in as a starter, you just can't expect him to light up the scoreboard. He will certainly be an improvement over Gragg, and he will be an excellent insurance policy. Good signing. The Jets are obviously trying to fill up all their holes as much as possible so that they can avoid drafting on need. It's a great strategy.

    Pennington is #10
    Curtis Martin is #28

Put them together, and you get..... 1028

If this means we are not taking Brick it should not change the fact that we need to draft an OT in the first 3 picks.

If this guy is not an expected starter then he is not gonna fix out problems. We need a guy that can start and be good this season or next, like Justine or Mcneil, even Colledge.....

Clements is only a 78 in Madden

I agree with you here. The one spot they don't seem to have really added that depth is at OLB. For that reason I would be very surprised if they passed up on Lawson/Wimbley/Carpenter if any are there at #29.

This is a great signing.. All the players we are currently signing for OL depth are excellent choices... These are players who have started before, and can be a good backup plan incase anyone gets hurt...

    Great job tangini..

IMO that 29th pick is reserved for exactly that, adding us a stud pass rusher

I got a question for all... Would you Rather D'Brick and the best pass rusher at 29 or Mario Williams then the best OT at 29??

While I don't disagree with your asessment of taking best pass rusher at #29 if we don't take Hawk or Mario at #4...

I think we have some good depth at Linebackere in general, with some very interesting talents in the group.

Vilma, Eric Barton, Mark Brown, Victor Hobson, Chatman, Kassel and Bryan Thomas aren't such a shabby group as a whole. It will all be how the coaches use the players.

I think the only lock as far as position is that Vilma and Kassel are ILB and Thomas and Chatman are OLB.

I think the others are kinda up in the air.

They are solid at ILB...run stuffers like Vilma, Barton, Kassell, Hobson. But these guys cant blitz, and in a 3-4 you need an impact pass rusher like Lawson or Carpenter...its the key to the scheme

Again, which is why Chatham was signed for depth.

And for all we know, Bryan Thomas might be very effective as a 3-4 WLB.

Barton can blitz quite effectively and Hobson had plenty tackles for a loss last year.

Point being, I don't think its a glaring need.

Are we also forgetting Bryan Thomas had more sacks than our former Pro Bowl DE, Shaun Ellis?

I think he is going to be fine at OLB.
