What's awesome about landing Bell is he instantly makes everyone on our offense that much better. He's an HB who can not only run with the best of them but can put up 70-80 receptions. He's not "just a RB"; he's a game changer and a top 3-5 NFL offensive threat amongst skill player positions.

Darnold's play action should become a real thing and Robby Anderson one on one on the outside will become lethal because Bell must be accounted for on every snap. This is a big time addition for our offense and kid QB.

Bell doesn’t strike me as the renegotiating type.

It’s not an issue. I’m glad the contract looks like that. Like I said, run him into the ground while he’s still cheap and the QB is still developing. Let him go when we need to pay the QB. Solid plan

Best thing about this deal is there is no total disaster possibility. It is a pretty fair deal and if Bell flops, the Jets just move on. Great job by Mac!

And all I've heard is Bell's camp is very pleased at how this all played out for their side.

Win-win, more of a win for us as a team :D

He'll renegotiate when it comes to adding guaranteed years and money, especially at age 30. I have no desire to let him go while he's still playing at a high level. If that's 30, ok... if it's 35, then he better be here til he's 35.

    I'm missing this reference.

DWC’s since locked post. And now the “instant” reference again. Probably see it a few dozen more times.

He’s not going to admit otherwise.

AP is still ballin at 33, plenty of carries in his career. Who knows maybe sitting out last season added years to Bell's career.

AP is not human, so you can't use him as the benchmark but the point still remains. A year off can absolutely help. Everyone wants to pretend a year off means you sit home, watch movies, eat candy, etc. He's still an athlete, he didn't just stop trying to be one.

Frank Gore is another one. There are plenty of them. Even Curtis Martin dominated into his 30's. Le'Veon Bell JUST turned 27 last month lol age should not even be discussed right now.

He's not the only RB to play well into their 30s. Bell could carve himself a nice role, he doesn't rely on speed / athleticism as much but excellent vision

Sorry I thought you were referencing people who missed a year. Of course RBs can play well into their 30s. Look no further than Thomas Jones. Two best years of his career came at ages 30 and 31. With some slapdick team.

Good point on his style of play. I could see him playing a long time just that $17 mil figure in 2021 is going to complicate things no matter what

Exactly. Amazing field vision and he has patience behind the l.o.s that we've never seen before out of an RB. He's a rare breed.

Not sure why people are talking about his age lol he's in his prime and just turned 27 last month.

Give him guaranteed money at age 29 after all the touches and injuries he's had? Sorry, but that would be insane. More than likely, it will be time to cut bait after 2020.

Martin had his best year at age 31.

    Most touches. Most yards.

Toast? I like mine lightly buttered.
