I always loved Vicotr "The color of money" Green, he was a great jet. One of the best jets in the 90's and played with more heart then most. One of the poster said he should be a coach for us and I totally agree.
Good news i really liked victor green, and always knew when a WR beat any cb that covered him green was their for the stop.
Good news. Victor came up big plenty of times for the Jets when others didnt. He was one of the few who was proud to put the Green and White on. I think that these past few retiring as a Jet is just the start of the Jets wall of fame.
If he cared for being a Jet so much, he takes a paycut and stays. No, he ran to NE. I'm sorry, but I'm not for this signing 1 day contracts and retiring with a team. How the heck the NY/NJ argument gets involved with this I have absolutely no idea. That's just foolish.
I still wear my authentic #21 Green Jersey and I'm damn proud of it! V.Green got a raw deal at the end of his career. Good to see him getting respect.
He didn't run to NE, he was looking for market value and the JETS low balled him and slapped him in the face by doing so. So you'd want everyplayer to play for Less that they're worth Just to stay w/ the JETS? It was the JETS wrong doing NOT his.
it was time to part ways, the Jets didnt do anything wrong. Victor was slowing down and it was time to go. I don't blame Victor for leaving and don't blame the Jets for low balling him- it was just time to part ways.
I remember the first time we played against him he took one back for 7. He was all smiles that day. I guess maybe we should've paid him after all.
If he wanted to be a Jet SO BADLY, he says.. case closed. No, I don't blame the player for running to get more cash. Just, after you do it, don't come back to me crying how you bleed green, etc etc. (Well I guess he technically does bleed Green but you see my point) Basically, show me loyalty while you are playing. If you go, go for it, and I do not blame you, but don't come back telling me how much you miss the organization later.
Hey JetsIn2004... ...the reason he left was that Herm Edwards wanted him gone. Victor Green was one of the few players who wouldn't let Herm blame him for the Coaches' failure. He publicly questioned why the Jets were forcing the Tampa Scheme on the team when the talent didn't fit. That's why he left, not for the money. He was a team leader...and I respect him for that...
This is great! One of my all time favs and I love the fact he wants to retire a JET. I'm sure he knows he's a fan favorite.
Jeez. I was only using it to show that people see the same thing in 2 different ways. Although you may see something one way, others see value in it. I think I should go back to hiding in the BS forum.
Stop the nonsense, he didn't publicly question anything. It was about money, ALL about money from his standpoint and it was about the fact that he couldn't play anymore from the Jets perspective.
Sweet news, Victor was my favorite player when he played for us. He always gave 100% and played hard. Welcome back homeboy.
And there is NOTHING WRONG WITH HIM leaving for more money. Everyone has the right to go get more cash. However, once you leave, you do not get to retire as a Jet. That's my stance, especially for someone who has, in all reality, been retired. I mean, even when Emmitt Smith did it I did not like it, but heck, I could at least SEE IT there with him being an all time great and stuff.
its good to see this happen victor was a good hard hitting safety it was sad when we actually lost him
