My first thought was that they might use him to help bracket Welker. It's a smart match-up. Welker is crafty but doesn't have incredibly straight-line speed. That's Law's wheelhouse. He'll win more of the chess matches than he'll lose.
i said that like 3 times in this thread. no one is actually reading anything they are just freaking out.
hahaha. exactly. I think most people will like the move a lot more once they calm down and think about it rationally. The guy was still a very solid player in his last year in KC (he had 2 interceptions for the Chiefs in the playoff game agaisnt the Colts - his second to last year, actually - if I remember correctly) and we could use a crafty veteran in the secondary. Also, this way I don't have to have nightmares about Miller making a sudden return and having a 60 yard pass interference penalty on the first play from scrimmage
thats all i'm asking for... my gut just doesn't like it though. I don't know what it is. I have is jersey from 05 too (Xmas present)-- but that could be part of the anger. Something in me just isn't comfortable with this. Thanks for reasoning with me though, its helping.
Would someone like to alert me of the downside? If he plays badly, we can just cut him. If he's an asshole in the locker room, we can just cut him.
Thank you. I was ridiculed beyond belief the other day by several posters for "falling for" a "news article" that was "obviously" not true. Now I don't. I've been coming to this board for quite some time. For the most part, I accepted every news article posted as fact, because, after all, isn't that the way it's supposed to be on a trusted site? Apparently not, and I've learned my lesson here. So, from now on, I don't accept most new threads or "news articles" until I'm absolutely certain they're for real. And that's a real shame, because I'd love to comment immediately on new feeds as if they were factual. Mods, is there no way to clamp down on someone who posts a thread such as, "Eric Mangini caught in sex scandal in a restroom on the NJ Turnpike!" as a "news article?" Seriously guys, the trust factor on the website goes out the window if you allow this kind of nonsense. The "article" posted was about the Jets suing for the name NY Titans. I took it for face value and provided comment, only to be promptly ridiculed by many others who "couldn't believe someone could be so gullable."
That's because you would have to enjoy the humor of a doorstop to not see that the article was a joke. Shefter reported this. It's done. Lighten up, Dude. Sorry you looked dumb in that other thread, but no one really cares.
Actually, not many regulars expect there to be fake news in the Jets forum because it is against the rules.
I feel your pain on The Onion article but this story is definately true. A) It's on www.nfl.com (this is a clincher) B) I was listening to WFAN when the story broke C) Supposedly, it was also reported on the NFL network D) Adam Schefter is the reporter who broke the story and I can't think of one story of his that hasn't turned out to be basically true.
"I'm proposing that you took my friends Mickey Mantle ball, stuck it up your unusually large vagina, AND WALKED OUT OF HERE!!" Love Curb Canadian, that episode is one of my favorites. Seriously guys I can't believe how many people have knocked this signing. I highly doubt Mangini after the positive momentum gained the past two weeks would sign Ty Law if he didn't think he would do anything but either help, or at the very least keep his attitude in check. It's a riskless move due to the nature of the deal, and as long as I never have to hear the name Drew Coleman again, I can't see this as a bad thing. Revis is a pro bowl calibur corner, and as teams take notice he'll be avoided. I just expect the pressure on the other side of the field to increase on Lowery and the like as the season continues so why not alleviate it with a crafty veteran. I can't help but think this is a signing usually the Patriots would pull out of their ass from the day. Roman Phifer and Brian Cox specifically come to mind as guys that were seen as past their prime but succeeded because they fit a certain part in the scheme.
Except that this one is coming from the NFL main website which basically is more than enough proof that this is true, and posting fake news will mean permaban
