Been sick all day, took sleeping/medicine type pills an hour ago, Had to come here to make sure I was not seeing things on the ticker. Wow, just wow. Talk about filling a big need by the front office. At worst Coleman never sees the feild in an important situation. Can't beat this.
This is a great move.........I view Law as a Hank Poteat esque type of guy.... As long as he isnt given too much of the chains to hold for this defense this cant hurt. Is Law as good as he once was? No but I do think his experience in the playoffs and experience all around will help the team out. The one MAJOR difference between this Ty Law and the Law of 05 was that Law in 05 was covering one of the very worst pass rushes in a decade. Seriously, the CBs were put on an island in 2005 and for him to get 10 INTs is pretty huge. This year though, the Jets are getting tons of pressure and its really taken a load off of the CBs. Add the fact that this year's Jets can stop the run unlike in 2005 and this should help Law as opposed to in 2005. I really thought Dallas would look into Law after Newman and Pacman were gone but I am happy he's a Jet. I think as a 3rd CB or maybe even 2nd he will be decent enough to not destroy the team.
I like the signing. With the way the locker room is now, I'd hope that if Law starts his me-first bullshit, Jenkins will just eat him and that would be the end of that. I would think that Revis has been around him enough by this point that he won't have an adverse effect on him. Again, he'll be better than Coleman in nickel situations, which is big for us.
this is so stupid, if you ask me. We were just getting in a groove and they've done nothing but put a bright shin bauble in front of us.
Pretty much. Would've been much cheaper too.... FIRE TANNEBAUM!!!!!!!! The guy's supposed to be a cap guru, look at all this wasted dough
Did not expect this at all! I thought this was the original thread when we first signed him, bumped for some odd reason. It can only provide depth for us I guess, making it an "okay" signing in my book. It does show that the front office wants to win this season (or really wants this game Thursday). He better not bring that "me first" bullshit like NDmick brought up. Hey, if one thing is for sure, I can wear that Ty Law jersey I bought the first day they went on sale at Jets training camp and it would be relevant  .
This is a smart move in my opinion. Law is an instant upgrade over Coleman, and even Poteat in nickel packages. Law is solid in run support and he always finds ways to get his hands on the ball. If Law can rotate in and out as a safety and a nickel corner his old legs should stay fresh and he could make this strong defense even stronger. I'm all for this move.
I haven't read any of the articles posted really, but did it go into detail as to what he has been doing lately? I'm assuming he's been training/practicing on his own terms if the Jets went out and signed him and plan on playing him Thursday in NE?
I don't care if he's been sitting on his ass eating potato chips all day - he's better than Eric Smith and Drew Coleman. His name alone puts fear into the hearts of QBs...and I bet he'll talk A LOT of shit to Cassell.
