You must have watched a lot of the playoffs, then. Leonhard is actually below average in terms of pass coverage, which is why he is ideally a backup safety; what makes Jimmy useful is that he is a perfect gadget player who complements LBs and Dlinemen perfectly. Jim doesn't have a nose for the ball, nor is he physical enough to really cover or lay anyone out, but when used correctly, he is elusive in the return game and sneaky on defense.

A solid signing, not great, but solid, adding a player in the defensive backfield that knows Ryan's system. Another piece in place.

Our secondary, not to mention our whole D, is going to be effing nasty next year. Has there ever been such exciting back to back off seasons for the NYJ?

This is going to be a great signing. Kerry Rhodes will be a much better player because of this. Watch and see. WOW Whos next?

Jim Leonhard is an average player. Hopefully he can do a solid job.

That's what I'm saying. And I'm sure he weighed the option of playing for Rex, because he could of gotten exposed in Denver. But he'll be that high-motor guy for Rex and Rex will whip his ass.

3 yr/9mil would be too much like I said...3 year 7 mil sounds about right for him.

This is very very good, let's hope that we can not have the secondary taken care of. Rhodes had better feel that he now has the guy that will let him play more like Ed Reed as he mentioned during the season.

I am liking the way the secondary looks and I hope they can perform up to expectations.

The good thing about Leonhard is that he wont miss tackles.
The bad thing is that his subpar coverage causes him to make a lot of 'em.

link.......................? We are paying Lito Shepard 3 million and he may still be one of the best CBs in the league. I want to see proof we are paying a backup safety the same amount.

Awful! Please be one of those "3 year 9 million" 1st reported...Then 2 days later it turns out to be 3 years 7 million..

Yeah, sorry. That's "Reported", not factual. Haven't seen it in writing yet. Sorry for the confusion.

He's gonna start. I'll bet his contract is between $2.5 and $3.5 mil a year.

The 3 year $9 million was just someone's guess on this board. I'll be surprised if it's much more than $2 million per.

Aren't you aware that Lito Sheppard wasn't even a starter for the Eagles last season?
