Yeah, it looks like they brought Lionel Dotson back yesterday. He's obviously a lot cheaper than Douglas and can be cut again in 3 weeks. Could be Douglas is just done, but it seems more likely that they just want to stay cheap at the position.
No, I know he wasn't going to be starting, but I assumed they'd want a veteran backup with a rookie starting on the right side. Now they're left with a couple of waiver wire additions backing up Langford and McDaniel while Odrick nurses his leg. The best part is that Slauson's job just got a lot easier when we play the Dolphins next week.
Yeah. IF we had Faneca right NOW our Oline would be better, BUT there is a major upside with Slauson. He needs the experience. I believe after a few games he will improve. We had to take a hit to get better. Look at DBrick especially. Mangold? Well he was golden day 1.
For what I read he was signed to a 1 year deal back in April by the Redskins but was just cut before the season began, so he should be in descent shape.
Any chance that Greene takes over the spot at some point which allows Pouha and Ellis to anchor the ends?
I don't see why that wouldn't be a formation in the gameplan. They had Pouha, Jenkins, and Ellis on the field together in the first on Monday.
Green is a decent, economical pickup to add depth on Dline. Keep in mind, that the Jets D is focused mainly on stifling pass defense and blitzing from the LBs. The D-linemen are mainly there to fill gaps to allow the LBs to make plays. In fact, one could say (and don't get all bent out of shape, because I love big Jenk) that Jenkins ability to penetrate often created cut-back lanes for opposing running backs, while Pouha tended to fill the gap and hold the line solid, making it possible for the LBs to swoop in and stuff the ball-carrier. I think we will be seeing a lot more from Mike DeVito now.
We really shit on Pouha for his first few years here but I wonder if it's a stretch to say that he's one of the better interior linemen in the league today?
Can't say that's much of a stretch. He filled in more than admirably for one of the best DT's in the league last season and in the last game. And he can play all over the line.
I had reasonably high hopes for Pouha when he first came to the team, but he didn't do much until last year. He's gotten much better. I also like the Green signing, knows the team, knows the plays, vet talent. But he's mostly bench depth and not much else. THa'ts okay.
