The Jets are better than what they were last year. They won 4 games last year. Before the season they were a 4-6 win team. With the additions and growth of Darnold they're a 6-8 win team. If things fall their way they can get to 10 and be in playoff contention. Look at the schedule. At best their 4-2 in the division and that's at best. They should beat the Dolphins twice but weird things happen with the Jets and Dolphins each year. The Bills are better too so we should probably split with them and New England is New England. Until Belichek and Brady aren't there we'll go 0-2. We play the AFC North. If we play well 2-2. Cincy is beatable. Cleveland better. I think it'll be a close game, Baltimore is always tough and Pittsburgh down a notch but still Big Ben. Be tough to get more than two. We play the NFC East. I think 2-2 there as well. Giants and Redskins beatable. Which Cowboy team do we play as well as Philly? Cowboys and Philly better than us but injuries and Jekyl and Hyde type Cowboys tough games. We finish up with Oakland and Jacksonvile. Probably split those games. The teams are better but still have questions. Just doing the quick math here I'm giving them 9 wins. I think that's talking best case scenario. Injuries teams jelling etc we can get lucky and get to ten but injuries and a bounce of the ball one way we can win 7. Not a consistent playoff team next year. 2020 is our year to be consistent. It's about growing more this year. Anything else is gravy on top.
When I first saw the thread title, I read Cannizarro. "Holy Shit, the Jets signed Mark Cannizarro?! He's fat and can barely breathe!" Whew; but Catanzaro is also a borderline fatty and definitely has a Mr. Chubbs gene. In his first stint with the Jets a lot of people were saying he was fat long before the fat thing became de rigueur, haha.
You are actually very wrong in what your remembering. Catanzaro didn't compete with Myers in 2018 at all. After the 2017 season, he refused to even negotiate with the Jets saying he wanted to play in a warm climate and he signed with Tampa at the start of free agency. Your either mistaking him for Cairo Santos who beat out Bartolet in camp in 18, and was promptly released when Meyers was claimed off waivers at the end of the preseason, or Ross Martin who Catanzaro battled in 17 and who most felt beat out Catanzaro and should have been signed. Remember Martin trolling the Jets by posting videos of him kicking field goals after every big Catanzaro miss during the 2017 season.
