again clueless post. ive KILLED about 95% of the jets draft picks the past 5 seasons. im probably the most negative jet fan on this board. i had us at 3 wins last season, have us at 4-8 this year. go take your sunshiner criticisms and apply them elswhere this kid is an outstanding pass rusher and an elite leader. it was a fantastic pick
Sorry I been getting some silly responses prior to your post and you got the brunt of my frustration.
Don't take anything LIB says on this forum seriously, he spends most of his wasted time here making idiot posts and grouping every poster into wrong categories instead of actually talking about football
Thanks Falco for posting this. 3 things that stood out watching his highlight real: 1- he's really good at shoe string tackles when chasing from behind. No one gets away. 2- he's always looking for the ball when tackling and tries to knock it out, especially when closing in on a QB. When he's tackling a RB or QB he takes note of where the ball is and takes a swing at it every time, if possible, forcing a bunch of fumbles. 3- my favorite observation is the man is not content with just tackling. He uses every last ounce of his tackling momentum to try and injure or kill the QB or ball carrier, which is fantastic. At 2:33 he destroys a RB who's already being held up and at 2:38 he finishes his sack by driving his shoulder pad and helmet into the QB's chest. Whether our defense is just nasty or the best defense of all time may very well hing on how good Mauldin is.
Would be nice if Mac hit a home run his first time at bat with this kid. I'm also excited to see if the new CS gives IK Enemkpli a shot . The kid showed some promise in the preseason last year.
Mac stated clearly he hopes to draft a rush linebacker every year. The backstory on this guy should have every last one of us rooting for him unlike others like Ray or Gregory who had it easy and were top prospects all along he has overcome impossible odds en route to becoming a draft-able prospect of the highest character unlike them. I like the motor he displays and feel he can contribute in year 1 - and hope he can be a starter in year 2.
http://www.buffalobillsdraft.com/20...ct-to-watch-louisville-deolb-lorenzo-mauldin/ Pretty good writeup/breakdown of him predraft.
Among all the draft picks (ours), I like this one the most. I think he will be fit this defense perfectly (his size and all). Love his passion for the game.
i like the flashes i saw from IK as well. he's a little wild, but high motor and disruptive (even on special teams). think IK will make a nice backup for Coples, with Mauldin backing up Pace. odd man out may be Babin, especially as we'll be looking for more ways to keep our DL's (Williams) on the field, in addition to these guys.
It's time to free IK. He could be our speed-rusher. Maybe that's why they didn't look to get an edge rusher. 3-4 OLB, 4-3 DE, get him on the field and have him go after the QB.
Hell of a story. Kid is a fighter. One thing we won't see is any quit in this young man. Proud of him for what he has gone through and proud to have him as a Jet. I hope this kid becomes a very rich man 1) thats goof for him to provide for his family and 2) if he becomes a rich man that means he is killing it on the field for us.
How nice would it be for Mauldin to be our full time OLB next year? I appreciate what the guy has done for us... but Pace reminds me of bad times. I'd love to see him take over right away, although unlikely.
I'm with you we need to get much younger there. I love Pace and he has been productive the last few years, but would love to See Mauldin take that spot by the end of next year. With his motor alone he could get a lot of hustle/coverage pressures and a few sacks. He will be seeing single coverage all day so he should be able to be moderately productive.
if he starts earning trust with the coaching staff this year, i can see them going into 2016 with him penciled as the starter. in meantime, i expect him to make special teams contributions (as he's a good football player), and get a little work with the starting D on subpackages. he'll learn from Pace this year.
