The fact of the matter is this, when you blitz YOU HAVE TO GET THERE, we didn't so Flacco had more space than usual to operate because we were sending the extra man or two. No matter how great a CB is give a QB time and a whole lot of space to play with you will get burned, that's what was happening last night.
I dont know what you Lowery supporters are seeing - It just confuses me that there are many many Jet fans that think he's good/going to be good. he was a pleasant surprise for a late round pick EARLY last season, because he was playing agressive and people had lower expectations for him. Something happened mid way last year and the referees started flagging Lowery like it was nobody's business. Since then he has been timid and useless and has been giving the recievers some 10 yards cushion. Lowery is going to absolutely KILL our defense this season. Get used to this sight Jet fans. Jets stop run on first down for 2-3 yards, incomplete pass or short run on 2nd down. Then 3rd down and (6-8) and BANG 9 yard completion to who ever Lowery is covering. That cycle is going to repeat over and over ALL year if Rex doesnt do something about this, because Mangini didn't and thats why we went from 8-3 to 9-7 last year. I will admit he's a stout tackler and by god thats a good thing or else those 9 yarders would be even more damaging.
I thought we got decent penetration considering Jenkins was out. If we had the big man up front, I think we would have had a few more sacks and definitely more pressure, which leads to QB mistakes. Honestly, I think Flacco just played well last night. I was impressed.
