im not sensitive, and ive said in other threads the Pats are still the team to beat. specifically the "who has the most to lose in the afc east". and yeah it will motivate the patriots. but guess what too fuckin bad. everyones motivated. i respect the pats, that being said. people offended that our new HC actually has confidence and is out to prove something, need to get over it. i sure as hell would hate to cheer for a jets team that goes into games thinking. "gee golly its the pats, theyre so good. hope we can win" its just like two good fighters, im sure they respect eachother. but when the bell rings the goal is to end your fuckin day, quick. so its not an attack on your personally its just the post of yours i quoted was the last straw of that general attitude ive seen with posters saying "well he better back it up". no shit, im sure hes well aware of that. the fact the players are saying everything except, "wow mangini took the fun out of football, didnt really like the enviroment" should say how effective all this "big talk" is doing.
http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...safety-kerry-rhodes-we-will-best-defense.html http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...yan-jets-not-intimidated-patriots-merged.html Hahahahaha
lol your right the pats fans are angry cuz we dont have a penguin mime with no balls coaching anymore. whats even better is most of them think eric smith and david barrett factor into our DB's.
there's a lot of big talk coming out of those Pats' boards, Abyz. I'm thinking Belichick may need TWO cameras this year....so he can attempt to steal defensive signals....to try and prevent Rex's pass rush from destroying Mr.Bundchen and his glass knee
The coach sets the tone for the franchise. You never see New England players getting loud and sh*t-talking in the press because their coach doesn't. Baltimore has always had loud sh*t-talkers, mainly because the coaching staff lead by Brian Billick was that way. I think it's a positive thing for the Jets at this point to have that dynamic coming into play. The entire AFC East tiptoes around the Patriots because they're afraid of talking sh*t and then getting their asses handed to them. Having the Jets get loud at least means that the time leading up to the games won't be boring. Generally I believe in letting your play speak for you, but when you're half the team, based on the record of the last 8 years, that your opponent is I think trying to build yourself up before the games is probably a no-lose proposition.
I really don't mind Rex talking and all but I want to make sure he isn't all talk. Does he in fact know the Jets have the talent to become a top notch defense? We haven't even put pads on yet. I like that he is confident but he can reserve some of this for when he has a full grasp of what he has on this team. Dude, I want to buy into what Rex is preaching hook, line and sinker but I feel it's too early in the process to know exactly what we have here.
The whole thing just has a high school/college mentality to it. But thats just my opinion. I am young, but idk if i've ever heard a coach talk this big. Period. Not even one that dominates. Idk. Like I said I'm glad cuz it adds drama and fire to the whole rivalry. And Mangini just isn't a good fit for any head coaching job because he is a pussy. But on the other hand this could end in embarrassment
I've gotten to the point where same ol', same ol' is valueless to me in the entertainment I derive from watching the Jets. 38 years of watching this team has taught me that if everything looks like it's going to be the same from last year the odds are it will. I'd be happy with Ryan if he was dressed in a monkey suit and juggling bananas at this point. Just so long as he wasn't doing the clam routine that Mangini specializes in when he isn't running boot camp.
You know the only statement that ever stuck with me from a Jets coach was Bill Parcells after the Jets had one their 8th game after he came here. All he said was "They can't call us losers anymore". I was so proud to hear that, but that was after actually doing something on the field.
Honestly this is really not that big a deal. It won't mean a damn thing to anyone in either locker room and it won't matter on the field. If fans on either side want to get in a tizzy over it because they're bored and have nothing else to talk about given that it's early June, that's fine, but it really doesn't matter.
Why does this stuff drive people so crazy? Who cares. If Rex feels that way, then he feels that way. IMHO, he should be targeting the Dolphins, they are the ones who are the AFC East Champs. The Pats missed the playoffs and we have no idea who will be our QB come game 1. I am sure Rex will do just fine. Your defense looks great and your team seems ready to go according to what I've read. Now that I have heard Rex's comments, I assume he think you are ready to take the AFC East. Do you guys think you have enough to take over from Miami?
Miami, on a larger scale, reminds me of the 2002 Jets in the sense that they took a division title one year and then the next year things went back to normal - which is the Pats being the team to beat in the division. And we all know that will be the case until Tom Brady retires or if the knee is his downfall, which i doubt. Miami will have a sophomore slump. This board is sure of it.
Rex' statements are a breath of fresh air compared to Mangini. Don't back down to NE like Mangini did in the home opener last year. Go out fighting. This is all I can ask!! Get it done Rex!!
the only thing dumber than people analyzing drafts teh morning after is people trying to analyze a schedule before the season. You have zero idea if the Jet schedule is difficult or not. Nobody does
Totally agree with this post. Remember when Herm said something that was soooo mild and BB refused to shake his hand...Herm just brushed it off. Screw BB...screw the Pats...no offense to the Pat fans on this board...but BB is like that pyscho kid in school that nobody wants to piss off for fear they will end up with vampire marks on their necks. Its time for someone to finally say...go f yourself you pyscho asshole. You would still have zero championships as a head coach if it were not for you qb. Screw BB..win or lose we get to watch him run off the field and not shake hands because he is a little screwed up baby. He is an idiot. His players for the most part are pretty damn classy..but he ruins it by being a flat out asshole. F HIM if he cant take someone else putting on the "LOOK IM CRAZY TOO" hat.
Hahahaha. I can't blame you. If he was with a division rival i would probably feel the same way. But, he's my team's coach and has brought us a lot of fun and winning. I love the guy. I also love how he drives AFC East fans literally nuts. At no time have I ever had that much anger towards a coach yet. The only time I can think of was a few years back when we played you guys on an ESPN game and Herm said to Mawae, "I can't wait to beat these guys" on the field as they were stretching. We ended up winning that game and it felt great. But whatever, all this stuff adds to the atmosphere before the game and if it gets the guys on both teams all worked up then so be it. As for Pats fans talking a big game now because Rex said that stuff, I actually would caution them that those kinds of words are no guarantee that the Pats will play any harder. I remember Porter talked a whole bunch of sh*t about us before we played last year and then backed it all up in the game. But as Jets fans, you shouldn't even care about the Pats. You've beaten us, you are fielding a great team and have enough good things in your future to even care about us. As Porter said today, and I agree with, the Dolphins won the AFC East and are the team to beat right now The road goes through Miami. I like Miami's off-season moves and think they will have another good season. What prompted Rex's Belichick comments anyway? He has the Tuna and the AFC East champs in Miami to worry about not a team that didn't even make the playoffs to worry about. It would be one thing f we won the East or the Super Bowl, but Miami played very tough last year and I think they could take it again this year. I hope the Pats do well, but we have a lot of question marks right now.
