The Jets made some alterations to their practice squad today, signing OLB Victor Ochi and WR Wendall Williams and terminating the contracts of RB Raheem Mostert and WR Myles White. Ochi, a Valley Stream, NY native who established a school record with 32.5 sacks and added 49 tackles for loss at Stony Brook, originally signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent. During preseason action with the Ravens, Ochi racked up two sacks. Williams, a receiver, rusher and return man for the University of the Cumberlands, posted a 4.32 in the 40-yard dash and a vertical jump of 45.0 inches at the NFL regional combine in Winter Park, MN. The 5’10”, 185-pounder scored 15 touchdowns last season including four on special teams. Also as Pabloja points out when did we ever get production like we did from Forte from Ivory
Hope Ivory gets well. He may not be a Jet anymore but he did good for us. Also, good to see Qvale and Ijalana not get swallowed up in game time. Winters played well. Why do we have Giacomini anymore? Both Qvale and Ijalana are at least as good as him.
I would try to trade away Giacomini for anything at this point. You never know a team may be desperate to trade for a starting RT midseason.
Agreed. I'd rather take a flyer on a free 6th than keep him at this point. Free cap and gamble on some talent.
One of the most encouraging and hopeful things about the game yesterday was the way the OL played. Winters pretty much handled Geno Atkins. Ijalana and Qvale seemed to do a pretty good job, although Margus Hunt gave them some trouble. I didn't like Bowles rotating them (Ijalana and Qvale). The Jets averaged 5.0 ypc, and Fitz stayed pretty clean. Let's hope they can keep it up!
With so many roster moves since the end of preseason, I needed a recap. Here's how we currently look: QB (4): Fitz, Geno, Petty, Hack RB (3): Forte, Powell, Pope TE (4): Davis, ASF, Bostick, Bowman WR (7): Marshall, Decker, Enunwa, J Marshall, Anderson, Peake, Ross (Returner) Oline (9): Clady, Carpenter, Mangold, Winters, Qvale, Ijalana, Johnson, Dozier, Shell 27 Total Dline (6): Wilkerson, Williams, Richardson, McLendon, Jarvis Jenkins, Simon LB (8): Harris, Henderson, Jordan Jenkins, Lee, Mauldin, Carter, Josh Martin, Catapano CB (5): Revis, Skrine, Williams, Burris, Darryl Roberts S (4): Gilchrist, Pryor, Miles, Allen 23 Total Specialists: Folk, Edwards, Purdum 3 Total PUP Breno, Devin Smith IR Lawrence Thomas, Julien Obioha, Romar Morris Practice Squad LB: Bishop, Ochi, Stanford DB: Middleton, McDougle, Keeton RB: Howsare, Wilds G: Watts WR: White
thanks for the update, Still don't understand why we are carrying 4 Tes when we rarely have 1 let along 2 on the field.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/10/12/jets-sign-nick-marshall-off-jags-practice-squad/ The Jets filled the roster spot vacated by wide receiver Eric Decker’s move to injured reserve by signing a player off of the Jaguars practice squad. The team announced that they have signed cornerback Nick Marshall. They acquired wide receiver Jeremy Butler on waivers Tuesday and waived kick returner Jeremy Ross. Marshall joined the Jaguars as an undrafted rookie in 2015 and played in 13 games last year. He had 13 tackles and one pass defense while making one start for Jacksonville. The Jets were missing cornerback Darrelle Revis in Week Five as the veteran dealt with a hamstring injury suffered against the Seahawks in Week Four. Last year was Marshall’s first on the defensive side of the ball. He was a quarterback at Auburn, leading the offense for the 2014 SEC champions and taking the team to the national title game. The Jets haven’t gotten what they hoped to get from Ryan Fitzpatrick this year, but Marshall should be staying on defense with three other quarterbacks already on the depth chart behind Fitzpatrick.
Now that Decker is unavailable the Jets need to start getting the ball to Charone Peake. In the last four games he was targeted four times and came away with four catches. At 6'2" 209 lbs this kid has all the talent to take things to another level if we give him a chance.
anderson is still ahead of peake on the depth chart. peake will only see reps is marshall gets tired or we run a 4WR set. plus with ASJ working his way in, he's gonna take some snaps from WRs as well. With that said I love peake and his potential. I seen him as a steal in the 5th round pre draft, can't believe we got him in the 7th. Kid has a ton of talent
The Jets have signed OLB/pass rusher Corey Lemonier off of waivers. Aside from the teams he's had a cup of coffee with, does anyone have any thoughts/feelings on the kid one way or the other? He seems to have good speed, but not been able to capitalize on it. Does he have no rush moves? Is he not strong enough?
