Of course not. But if Marshall said he was there and that Geno did nothing wrong then I put more stock in that than what anonymous sources say. If Marshall collaborated the story of Geno putting fingers in IK's face then that's what it is. Also up to this point no one has refuted Marshall's claim either. And it isn't like Marshall and Geno are that much close friends that he'd go out his way to lie for Geno, I mean what would Marshall get out of it?
Lol. Really? Did you not see the articles this summer? You know the ones where Marshall said he came he BECAUSE of Geno (and not being 40 mins from his Showtime gig)? And pretty sure Geno was living with Marshall for a few weeks this summer. There wasn't a bigger Geno buddy on the team than Marshall so I need to discount much of what he says. And after that initial report--pretty sure Bowles put the gag order on--so it's not surprising we haven't heard anything either way. Dude, there were other guys in the locker room and those stories weren't made up. They just have no way of being corroborated but we'd have to be pretty naive to think there wasn't some truth to them. _
So dismiss Marshall because you don't like what he said or you don't want to believe what he said because it goes against the side of the story you want to believe? Marshall's reasons for coming to NY may have been for his tv job AND to work with Geno, that's not farfetched at all. Until someone puts their name to it and "corroborates" that Geno put his finger in IK's face I can't give credence to anonymous sources over a guy that came out and told us what he saw.
It's impossible to argue with anyone on this thread. I've seen a few that have literally posted in quote "you should cheer Fitz because he is our QB and he is a Jet". These comments have went to people who said something as little as Fitz not having a good arm... Yet the same exact people are still grinning ear to ear because a JET player got punched in the face and knocked out for months. Same people who cheered against him every week last year, hypocrites. Truly amazing.
We may never know however the truth has a funny way of coming to light after time has passed. This is almost as intriguing as finding the second shooter on the grassy knoll or why there were no background stars in the picture of Neil Armstrong on the moon. (cue X-files theme song..)
Why would Marshall have sought out to play for a second year player and the worst QB in football-it's nonsense and you'd have to be massively naive to believe even an ounce of that story. And I'm an adult--I don't need video evidence of football deflation or someone corroborating what seems to be a completely believable story that's been widely reported. So I guess in your world--Geno was innocently sitting on his stool at this locker and IK flew in from left field and sucker punched him with no provocation, nothing untoward on the part of Geno. Completely unawares and innocent. Okay. _
But it's weird that his own teammates sent sympathy texts to IK upon him being cut but none to Geno for losing his job. _
Well, since Bowles shut down any conversation about it, all we have to go on is Geno's summer roomate's version of what happened. This from a guy trying to re-image himself from Qb killer. Like I said.. We may never know or at least until Geno is long gone from the Jets.
It is what it is. But I know how it is. If it indeed is true that Geno did what he did then whatever. But I never put stock in anonymous sources or quotes. Marshall put his name to it so I'll buy that over sources who could potentially make up anything.
So I have to ask again--honestly--you think Geno said nothing or did nothing to exacerbate the situation? Completely innocent sitting on his stool. Really? _
I'm not Marshall I don't know why he would seek to play with Geno and he's not the worst QB in football that's a massive hyperbole. I have no reason to try and claim otherwise. Maybe he saw something in Geno and figures he'd try and work with the guy. I wasn't there, but the guy who claimed he was there and saw what happened said that Geno did nothing wrong. I'm taking that over anonymous sources 10/10 times. In what world do we dismiss someone who saw what happened just to believe anonymous sources? I don't know if Geno was innocently sitting on a bench or not. What incentive does Marshall have for lying for Geno?
Exactly! Marshall got his version out before the information blackout so, his is the only story out there with a name on it so far. Wanna bet there's more to this???
I guess I've lived longer than you and I can't be this naive or blind. So the guy who was there said "Geno did nothing wrong" but not exactly what happened? Maybe his idea of right and wrong is different than yours or mine (obviously based upon the "spitting" and hitting women incident). And Marshall is a teammate--he has all the incentive in the world to back up his QB and maybe he WASN'T lying for him but just backing him up. Did he refute claims that Geno shouted "you aint gonig to do shit about it" or "yeah come over here" or that he pointed in IKs face or that he poked IK in the face or that they both rushed at each other? Did he say that? Why not--it was all reported--if he really was defending him he could have said none of those things happened. Or did he simply say "Geno did nothing wrong"? Sounds like a judgment rather than a blow-by-blow account of what went down. I can't dismiss all the peripheral stories because one guy made an imprecise blanket statement that dismissed none of the other details reported. I can't be that naive. _
