Yupper. Even a #2 DB would be a good win. I think Sherman was a 4th round pick (?), so anything of starter quality in rounds 4-7 is a win, especially an edge DB. JD's first draft is looking better and better.
Welp we've now reached the point where TGG is praising Douglas for being quick to cut a bust he signed.
Seriously, guy? You're more on the dark side than Darth Vader ever dreamed of being. Come into the light. How many other GMs have we had that admitted a mistake and moved on? Besides, I'm not certain it could be classified as a "mistake." Desire was good in 2018. He wasn't good in 2019. Douglas was hoping he could rebound and give us a year of decent play at CB. Those kind of signings are always 50-50 and can go either way. If you were counting on Desir to be great, that's on you. Douglas didn't sign Desir long term and he didn't pay him a lot. If he had, that would have been a mistake. He intentionally didn't pay big bucks for a CB because his plan may have been to tear this down to the studs and start over anyway. If that is true, then it isn't a mistake. Desir wasn't what we hoped he might be, but he had 3 interceptions in a game. How many other CBs have we had that had 3 picks in a game? Did the great Revis even ever have 3 picks in a season? You're just nitpicking, looking for anything and everything that you can criticize Douglas about.
Lol I am not going to praise Douglas for cutting his own mistake. That's like praising a limbo dancer for getting under a 5 foot bar. And I could easily get even darker and start saying Fire Douglas, but that would be going too far.
let the young guys play. bless, hall, jackson, etc. lets see what we have in these guys. desir was awful
C’mon I think the bust word is a little rich for a player who signed for only $4 million. For a veteran CB, you kind of know what you’re getting.
We’d still suck but Xavier Rhodes would’ve been a much better choice to take a 1 year flyer on. He signed with Indy for exact same $$$$ as Desir. Not that he would’ve come to the JETS for the same money either.
Thank you for helping to keep things in perspective. The level of negativity and criticism on this board is ridiculous.
Wait, wouldn't cutting such a terrible cornerback in Desir hurt the tank? I'm happy the young guys are getting some experience though. We will see if they are worth keeping around for 2021 and beyond.
We will be without Desir and Poole, Ballentine is new and mediocre and a bunch of young guys. I think it will be a tough day for them against Charger's passing game and WR's.
