I can't believe we cut Jay Feely, one of the most reliable guys in the league last season for that piece of trash Folk. I know there will be kickers out there, but it's just frustrating knowing we let a team guy, a good kicker, and an asset on special teams go for a one-dimensional guy who can't even do his job.
BobGlauber Wow, It's only May, and Rex Ryan said this of newly signed K Nick Folk: "Nick has to make a couple, or else we'll find another kicker."
Rex putting the pressure on Folk. He did this last year with a couple of punters if I remember. Of course none of them were as well known as Folk is but Rex knows how important the special teams aspect of the game is.
When you miss field goals in practice, that's pretty fuckn' bad. We're probably going to be playing a lot of tight games this season, so kicking is an absolute necessity.
I don't get it either, I mentioned getting rid of them a month or so ago. I guess no one's gotten around to it or gives a shit.
exactly thats a testament to Greene's commitment to his running style. soon as that pigskin hits these forearms its tuck and truck.
Can he kick in a game before we call him a piece of trash? Or how about a preseason game? Training camp? What makes Folk one-dimensional and Feely multi-dimensional. Because Feely tries to tackle people? Kickers should be one-dimensional: kick the damn ball. Feely had to go so we could get some free agent flexibility. He was a good, not great kicker.
Did you miss all of last season? Don't give me the "new team" crap. Either you can kick, or you can't. He can't anymore.
Here are Jay Feely's stats as a third year kicker in the NFL: 19 of 27 ...and here are Nick Folk's: 18 of 28 Those are pretty similar numbers if you ask me. Just for some fucking fun, let's add up their first three years in the league. Remember, both of them were on teams that play their home games indoors. Feely was 80 of 104 during his first three years in the league. That's around 76%. Folk was 64 of 81 during his first three years in the league. That's around 79%.
