Change of CS, offseason player movement, new schemes, etcetc. Show me progress. Show me competition, show me 60 mins of playing. Show me that Mangini knows his $hit. But it's year one for him... so I have humble expectations. I'd be pretty happy with 9-7. 2007?? It's ONNNN!!!!
The question isn't "What will the Jets record be?" but "At what point will 75% of TGG.com begin openly rooting against the team for the best draft pick possible?"
I think we will be in the 6-10 range, and we can hope for 8-8 at best. We have a whole new coaching staff, new offensive and defensive systems, and a young OL with two starting rookies. It will take time for everything to gel together, and I feel the only realistic expectation at this point should be improvement and steady progress. Change and success do not happen overnight. Then again, Pennington and Martin might come out, prove everyone wrong, and make us a playoff team. Anything is possible, I just don't see it happening realistically.
8-8. I have enough faith in Mangini that he'll get a good unit on the field for us to capture some late season wins and begin turning this ship around!!
I don't think the Jets have a prayer of getting a top 3 pick next season. There are some really bad teams in the NFL right now and the Jet's potential ineptitude just does not rise to their level.
the jets are too weak a team right now, theyd be hardpressed to win 6 games. but hey, im with anybody that says 8 wins or more!
At best they can be 7-9 but they will end up 5-11. On a brighter note they will win three of those games in Dec as they start to grow as a team.
Im not sure if anyone saw the film clips from the 2 day mini camp with the rookies this past weekend. If you didnt newyorkjets.com has them to look at and you will see players actually running and hitting and YES, practicing the art of football. If this is just a glimse of what the real camp will be like at least our players will be in shape. That alone is worth a few wins.
8-8, 7-9, or 6-10. Anything higher than .500, we're over achieveing. U gotta admit this is a rebuilding year. Based on talent alone, we're either behind or tied with Buffalo in our division.
Nobody is behind Buffalo. That team has had terrible management for the last 4 years and they're not going to recover until they make a complete transition to new management. Case in point: They traded a 2005 1st rounder for a 2004 2nd rounder which they then used to take J.P. Losman. There's nothing about that move that was not terrible. The player Dallas took with the 1st rounder in 2005? DeMarcus Ware. Case in point: They took Donte Whitner the 15th to 20th rated player in the draft in 2006 on the 8 pick. They passed on MattLeinart and Jay Cutler to do so. Who would you rather have on your team: Losman and Whittner or Leinart/Cutler and Ware? Bad management decisions bury teams.
6-10 Shaky QB situation with all of them walking into a new system. WR- Coles is good, Mcariens is like a light switch...the rest are unproven TE- Maybe Jolley actually shows up? OL- Good improvements...But rookies will be rookies. Expect breakdowns and on-off production. RB- Martin is on his last wheels, age finally took him off the field. Blaylock is a product ok KC's line, Houston is tough but not special. Defense- Welcome to the 3-4 the EXACT opposite of the Cover 2. Where is the NT? Where are the big LB's? Cornerbacks are young and promising though... K- fine P- Great 6-10 Have fun!
9 - 7..... or 6 - 10 i know those are 2 very different records but i really think that next season can go either way for this team
That picture of yours is amazing......i don't know why but It got me hype over here. It's been a while since I seen the boys celebrating. Plus it just reminds me how the future of our defence is very bright PS we finish 9 - 7
