Now I'd like to see Blalock in the 1st, both picks spent on defense in the 2nd (prefer NT and OLB or DB), and our 3rd spent on some high upside RT prospect that has dropped.
I am sure the FO will still draft at least two linemen in this draft.I doubt that they think Clement will be the RT for years to come.Last year we were lucky enough that the O line played together all season. If there are any injuries this year we will be in trouble.Lets get two players to groom behind Moore and Kendall.Hopefully these two will end up being Grubbs/Blalock.
Perfect. He played well...Did his job on the right side and that's all we could ask for from a journeyman RT at the time, just consistent play, which he gave.
I forgot that Pasquarelli is never wrong. I seriously doubt that Pasquarelli has actually watched Clement for a full game if at all.
How many people here can honestly say that they watch the o-line on a play and not just follow the play? Clement is a straight ahead player,if his defender doesn't move outside or use a rip move to throw Clement off balance then most of the time he can do a decent enough job.But otherwise he is brutally bad. It's hard to effectively debate o-line play as not a lot of people watch the line and people only remember the sacks,Clements may not give up as many sacks as D-Brick but he gave up a lot more pressures.
I just don't get where people think that we should take Greg Olsen in the first round. Baker is the pass receiving threat we need and if used correctly is better than Olsen. I remember when Olsen transferred to UM and was going to be the next great, or maybe the greatest TE that UM ever produced. As a 'Canes fan I remember him having lots of drops and disappearing for weeks at a time. Winslow, for all his bluster produced huge for the 'canes. I am amazed that he's even considered a 1st round pick based on his production at UM.
Hey, at least we got a right tackle now, and he even knows the system, which is a plus and he probably didn't cost much. No way we waste a 1st or 2nd on a mediocre TE when we need a CB, OLB, DL/OL, and even WR before we get another TE unless he's antonio freakin gates!
This move is all about what tannenbaum talked about earlier in the offseason. Filling all the gaos before the draft in order to go BPA on # 25 and throughout the draft.
so what, how about the run game when d'brick gets moved back off the snap. the only thing d' brick is good at is using his great footwork to keep his defender in front of him, which is why hes a solid pass protector. but hes got no arm extension after engaging and is weak against the bullrush. a pressure is never good but its not a sack. common sesne says a sack is the next worse thing.
This is great simply because it allows us to really take the BAP in round one. We don't have a gaping hole we have to fill. It is a smart move, and I bet it barely cost anything.
Wow just think just like Baker last year REJECTED by 31 other teams this year & returns to us cause we are the only one who will sign him. Makes you wonder if the other 31 GMs & HCs are silly or our FO/CS is sillier
My sentiments exactly, Poppa. GREAT signing (and cheap insurance for 3 years)! This is the kind of signing that frees us up on Day One to take an impact BAP. Tanny, YOU DA MAN!
Chris Baker is very good and they need to get the ball to him. If Herm was still the coach you would be making the same remarks about Cotchery who sat on the bench for two years without being used. Baker is good and Schoot needs to design some plays for Whiffle arm to get him the ball.
well, that is good news this morning... Clement did a pretty good job and is a reasonably priced guy to plug in at RT. It also adds continuity having the same starting 5 back from last year. Sure we need to look at drafting some young OL's both OT and OG to groom for the future, but to win now signing Clement is a good move!
No doubt D'Brick still has a lot of work to but on your play to play basis,Clement gets beat a lot more often than D'Brick,it's just that when D'Brick gets beat it tends to result in a sack.
If he is so "very" good as U posted why was he REJECTED by every other team in the NFL last year? Would not some other team want a "very" good player as you portray him?
Maybe because he was coming off of a season that ended with a broken leg. Also we don't know if he was rejected by every team, just no other team offered him a better situation (in his eyes) than the Jets did....
