Thank god! I think he should go write a book call " give me the god damn ball" like keyshawn johnson did.
I was no longer interested when I saw him acting like a 5-year-old in practice last season because he didn't get his way. Fuck that.
Acquiring Braylon Edwards was our Marshall trade. How many tall over priced receivers do you want on one team. WR's are the most over rated, over payed players in the game. This off season has been weird enough, getting Marshall would make my head explode. We need DB's, DE and OL
Look for Marshall to be a Jet...why and how Look for Marshall to be a Jet...on draft day if not before. (My thoughts!) The draft by nature is a 50/50 shot in the first round as the Jets know too well. You can just scan the draft over the last five years and see all the 1st round receivers that either were a bust or never became the 1st round pick they should have been. Marshall is a proven player with baggage, but even with all his problems he is a top five wideout in the NFL. It's it a team's draft dream to get a player with his production and now with his years of NFL experience he is even more valuable. Players like Tate will need one or two years to get up to NFL speed and they may never see 100 catches in a season which is something Marshall can do every season. The only problems and reasons he isn't a Jet already is that the Broncos want a 1st round pick and Marshall will want a new contract. My solution is to sign Edwards asap to a new contract while there is no cap and front load the money any way possible to prevent a backlash when the league does get a players agreement. Second once edwards is signed for the best deal possible, we trade for Marshall and resign him to a long term contract. Both Marshall and Edwards would have to agree to huge conduct clauses to protect the Jets interest. How to we get Marshall? Offer our 2nd round this year with a 3rd round next year which could be easily excalated to a 2nd. so we give up two 2nd rounds picks, no big deal. When you consider this years 2nd is actually #61 and next years will be close to it or worse (64), we are giving up virtually nothing for a probowl player. If you don't agree look at any version of a draft value chart and see how great this deal would be. Now if Denver must stick to the 1st round pick, no big deal, give them our #31 and we get Marshall and their 3rd round pick (#80) this year or wait until next year if it gets the deal done. (I would even give up our #31 for Marshall straight up.) Wether you like Marshall or not you can not say he isn't an exciting and productive player who would make the Jets better. Same as with Edwards, who now knows the offense and even if he does drop some balls he demands the other team to put a top CB or double coverage. There it is, my idea of where the Jets need to go. Marshall, Edwards, Cotch & Keller to spread the defense and give our running game an even bigger edge come Sundays. If the Jets still want to fill all the seats and sell the PSLs they should get Marshall to light up our passing game. So rip me if you want but the BPA at #31 will be Marshall if the Broncos haven't traded him by then.
I think we should be using our first round pick on a DE, and if not that, then trade down and get Golden Tate in the 2nd round to be our slot. Many of the mock drafts I've seen on nfl.com have the Jets taking either Dez Bryant or Demaryius Thomas. I'd much rather have proven talent in a 25 year old (Marshall) than take a chance on one of these rookies, especially for a team competing for the superbowl. People knock Marshall for having baggage, but he's never been convicted of anything, and I'm guessing his attitude changes when he's thankful the Jets took him out of Denver and he's playing under Rex.
The Broncos will only accept a 1st, straight up, nothing else We don't need three starting WRs We don't have the 31st pick Pennington forgives you
Problems: 1) Edwards WILL NOT be signed to a new contract this off-season... he wants "sure-handed WR" money and Tanny (like most of us) thinks he has to prove he won't drop it so much next season. 2) THE FUCK 2nd round picks aren't a big deal... the 2nd round is the best round to draft a guy in IMO... he is talented enough to produce right away but his contract isn't big enough to screw with the cap. 3) We pick at #29, not 31... unless we went to the Superbowl and I missed it... 4) I hate the "we are a run first team, let's spend a ton of money on WR to open up the run game" why not spend money on guys who actually participate in the run game 8like we are doing now)!? What makes you run game better... a strong LG or a #1 WR? Sure, a good WR does open up the run game but if you don't have money to invest in the OL because you spent it all on WRs you can "open up" the field as much as you want but you still won't be able to run shit. So, in conclusion, NO FUCKINg WAY! And don't get me wrong, I love Marshall and would much prefer to have him on the team rather than Edwards... but no way I want 2 10mill a season WRs on a D first, run second team...
We do not need anymore receivers, at least none that will cost us losing out at other positions. Mambo09 ended this thread-
Let's keep all the Brandon Marshall (Jet releated) stuff in one thread. We have enough borderline useless threads.
